I just got 1999 sienna with 104kmiles. I am doing a service maintenance, Is there anybody have experience in changing the transmission fluid filter? How hard to do it? Any response is much appreciated. Thanks.
See the link above for details. I've changed my tranny filter (which is called a strainer) and fluid 3 times on my 98 XLE.
I've used MOBIL 1 Universal ATF all 3 times and it shifts flawlessl and super smooth.
It's not hard to do, see my pics for how to easily put the gasket back on (using twist ties). FYI Toyota only recommends a flush and fill. You can get a generic strainer (Which is the filter) and new gasket at Napa or your local parts store for around $20. MOBIL 1 ranges from $7.69 a quart to $10 a litres in Canada. Note it's not available in California currently. Something about having too much VOC's in it.
