Passenger side rearview mirror loose.

So without too much embarressing detail, I find my passenger side rearview mirror loose flapping in the wind? After a few failed attempt to reattach it nothing seems to work. It seems to just snap into place, but it won't stay, and if I just keep pushing it I think the mirror is going to crack.......more...

P.s. I was a big fan of siennaclub.org just didn't post much. Couldn't find the old site for some time and saw some posts in toyota nation referencing this site. I've had my sienna for about 3 years now and appreciate all the help/information contributed in the past and now here. Thanks for creating this knowledge database.

Re: Passenger side rearview mirror loose.

Sorry about the mishap. It happens to the best (and many) of us....especially on the passenger side.

Is it ONLY the mirror part or is it the entire housing/assembly??

Re: Passenger side rearview mirror loose.

You can, but realize that there is a risk that the glass might crack from the stress of disconnecting the 8 tabs on the mirror carrier from the motor plate.

Drive the mirror up to the extreme, and get some fingers behind the glass on the lower-outer corner. Pull towards you until you begin to hear the tabs pop out of their retainers. IIRC, there are 2 on the left, right and bottom, but mini hinges on the top two (?). Do this after the mirror has soaked up some sun and is hot. Or work with a hair dryer for a while. Warm plastic 'gives', cold plastic breaks.
