In addition to his informative posts, Doug also supports this forum financially for each contract he sells to members, so how about supporting this great resource? The best part is that you have until just before 3 years/36k miles to decide, so you can save your money now and hit Doug later.

Thanks!

Re: NEW TFS SERVICE CONTRACTS - NEW TERMS & NEW PRICING

I'm seriously thinking about an extended warranty for my 2008 Sienna. I still have 11 months and 16K miles on my basic warranty. It appears the current price is over a year old. Would it be wise to do it now and avoid the next price increase?

Not sure when Toyota might raise prices again, but I usually get 2-3 months notice when they do. Let me know when you are ready! Thanks!

Re: NEW TFS SERVICE CONTRACTS - NEW TERMS & NEW PRICING

Doug, myself, and it sounds like at least a few other members are having the same problem with leather seats.
appears the side of the drivers leather seat is prone to developing cracks..
not sure if it started before i was past the 36k miles, but I noticed it around 38k.
I've bought the 7/100 platinum...any chance that will cover this problem?

Re: NEW TFS SERVICE CONTRACTS - NEW TERMS & NEW PRICING

That's a good question. I do know that in the past Toyota has covered a defect on the leather in a vehicle, but I'm not sure about what it takes to get it covered. I would recommend that you talk to your local dealer, because it may require photos or something being sent in to Toyota. Sometimes our rep comes out to look at vehicles before they authorize a repair as well. Good luck!

Re: NEW TFS SERVICE CONTRACTS - NEW TERMS & NEW PRICING

Is this the same warranty that the dealer sells as the Toyota Financial Services (TFS) Toyota Extra Care Platinum Vehicle Service Agreement (VSA)?

The brochure I have from the dealer is old. It doesn't even include the new 8 years options. Could u post a link to the latest coverage brochure?

Re: NEW TFS SERVICE CONTRACTS - NEW TERMS & NEW PRICING

Doug,

I have a Sienna coming up on it's 3 year birthday soon. Is the price for an 8/75 still $760? I live in CA, does that make a difference? If not I'd like to go ahead and purchase. What do you need from me, aside from $760?

R/

Matt.

Matt - yes the 8/75 is still $760. Living in CA doesn't matter. Send me an email toyotaofdanville@gmail.com and i'll show you exactly how easy it is to finish up. Thanks!

Re: NEW TFS SERVICE CONTRACTS - NEW TERMS & NEW PRICING

Is there any reason to purchase early, rather than just before hitting 3y/36k? I follow this forum so I expect you'd give sufficient warning if there were going to be a price increase, so I figure the money is better off in my pocket for at least a couple of years.

Are refunds available and under what circumstances? If so, how could I go about getting a refund? Would getting a refund hurt the seller (you) in any way?

Thanks!

Re: NEW TFS SERVICE CONTRACTS - NEW TERMS & NEW PRICING

There's little advantage unless there's an upcoming price increase.

You do pick up the replacement vehicle coverage, towing, and trip interruption coverage whenever you purchase the coverage.

If you cancel before the expiration of time and miles, you do get a prorated refund of your purchase price. You just have to call the selling dealer or Toyota Financial.

Cancelling typically does hurt the selling dealer in the form of a chargeback, however in this situation I sell these coverages with such little markup that the chargeback is basically minimal to the dealership.

Thanks!

Re: NEW TFS SERVICE CONTRACTS - NEW TERMS & NEW PRICING

Can you explain how the prorating is computed?

Re: NEW TFS SERVICE CONTRACTS - NEW TERMS & NEW PRICING

The pro-ration is calculated based on the remaining time and miles. For example, If you have a 72 month contract and you cancel it after 48 months, you would receive 33.3% back after any cancellation fees. The same goes for the miles. I don't know how they use one or the other if there is a major variance in the calculations. More than likely they would use the lower of the two % remaining for the refund, but I cannot guarantee that is correct.
