Re: Hood shield / Bug stone deflector

I used to have a Mazda 6 that came with it, got the windshield chipped twice by flying stones...
It does protect the hood, the Mazda's was mint when I sold it, my Sienna and my Pathfinder's hoods don't have it and have lots of chips caused by salt rocks and stones. Recently bought another 6 that has one and the hood is mint.

Re: Hood shield / Bug stone deflector

I've had a WeatherTech deflector on my 2012 Sienna for the last 4 years. It helps, but does not provide complete protection. I have to touch up chips on my hood and bumper several times per year. I had deflectors on previous vans, but they were late 90's models that had more chip-resistant paint. I rarely ever had to touch up their hoods -- maybe once every couple of years.

The WeatherTech shipped with plastic screws. I didn't like them and bought same-size stainless steel screws at a local hardware store to use instead. That is my only criticism. It's holding up well so far.

Re: Hood shield / Bug stone deflector

I have the weathertech one on my LE. I like how it looks better than the Canadian spec with the opening for the Toyota emblem.

Keeps the majority of the Florida Lovebugs off my paint.
