2005 Sienna AC intermittently not working

My 2005 Toyota Sienna Van has had intermittent AC/Heat issues for several months now. Almost half of the time when I turn the knob to turn it on, nothing happens. (The rear system works fine). Oddly enough, if I hit the top part of my glove box hard enough suddenly the AC cuts on and it's fine. Cold air is fine, hot air is fine, it's just an intermittent problem. We are constantly having to hit the glove box area very hard and suddenly it kicks in. Could it just be the fan or blower motor and is that a major expense?

Did you ever get any resolution to your problem? We are having the same exact problem with our 2005 Sienna Van. We are getting ready to try and take the dash off and examine it ourselves.

Take off the glove box door (see cabin air filter maintenance for instructions), and pull out the cabin air filter. You'll be able to see into the fan. The motor is underneath. Check the electrical connections.

I have had the same problem. Started this past summer. Service has replaced the control unit and today tried to replace the blower. Nothing seems to fix the problem. It has become more frequent however. Used to stop working about 30% of the time. It's now approaching 75%.
