Brakes hard to engage

Been noticing my brake pedal hard to push down. Usually first outing of the day it happens and corrects itself after a few stops. Anyone know what it could be? 2004 Sienna 2WD

Re: Brakes hard to engage

First thing that comes to mind is a vacuum leak, but does it happen only in the morning?
If it was a small leak, the pedal should be normal (soft) immediately after starting the engine. The pedal should only be hard after the engine is off for a while.
With a big leak, it would take some time for the pedal to feel normal but it would feel hard again every time you restart the engine.

If that makes sense, check you vacuum lines. Check also the vacuum valve attached to the brake booster.

Yes it seems to only happen first thing in the morning and a few stops after backing out of driveway. Where are the hoses located and what do we do to check them? Thanks
