Passenger side AC Servo motor for air mix / blend door

Hi - I have a 2005 XLE Limited AWD van that has a bad passenger side AC servo motor for the air mix blend door. I can see the servo if I
crawl under the passenger side dash and use a flashlight. I can see the servo move but it gets hung up and does the clicking noise.
Is this easy to replace or does the whole dash have to come off to access it. I can touch it with my hand as I had to reattach the power cable
to it as the car dealership we bought it from disconnected it to "fix" the clicking for me!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kevin

Hi - Same issue here on a 2004 XLE. I haven't changed mine yet but I'm hoping to tackle this before winter sets in. According to the shop manual, it does require a fair amount of disassembly to the blower unit and middle counsel. The best price I found for the servo unit is $ 268 + shipping. My local dealer wants $335 just for the part.

Hi - I replaced the passenger side air mix servo. The dealerships I contacted quoted me anywhere from $350 to $1200.
It took me about 20 min from start to finish. It was so easy. NO NEED TO REMOVE DASH
1. remove the glove box
2. there is a black plastic pop rivet holding in the floor air duct, it is almost all the way to the right of the part. Just above the bar the glove box hooks latch into, pop it out with a screwdriver
3. once the rivet is loose you just pull the left side duct off the air box
4. NOW THIS IS THE HARD TIME CONSUMING PART - you must now get the floor duct out of the way by trying to push it down and completely remove it
5. Once you remove it you can see the servo as plain as day
6. with a small stubby screwdriver just remove the 3 screws
7. remove bad servo and replace with new servo and reinstall 3 screws
8. now bring the floor duct back UP, this was easier than getting it down
9. Align the vent opening with the air box mate and press to fit the connection
10. pop back in the black plastic rivet holding the floor air duct
11. replace the glove box
12. enjoy the heat and quiet (no more clicking!)

I see that you had posted the question on ToyotaNation as well. This is good, as you've now cracked the code on how to do this side.

These were the exact instructions needed for my 2008 Sienna Ltd AWD. Thanks a ton!

I already had an appointment with my mechanic today to get this done otherwise I would have done it myself this weekend...was prepared to spend $500 in labor. I showed him these instructions and my labor was $25.

Hi....late in on this thread. Passenger floor vent blows cold when all other are hot.
Could someone again confirm the passenger side air blend servo part number. Is it 87106-08060 (Toyota I'm guessing...not aftermarket)?
For some reason I was thinking it was DENSO AE063700-8320.

Got an affirmative on the 08060 part number by asking on Amazon where I ordered the "used-like new in original packaging" for $65 Prime. It either works or doesn't. Amazon will stand behind it. Hope to receive and install part Sunday. Will report back. Huge thanks to this forum. If this doesn't fix the issue, I've got bigger problems.

Huge thanks to the Forum and "kevaug" for his 3.5 year old post on DIY servo replacement. Step by step was spot on....and yes, getting the floor duct out of the way is challenging, but because it's constructed of tough but light weight plastic, you can rough it up a bit without worry. So for now the passenger side is blowing warm as it should. Attached a couple of photos (I hope....first time on this forum) old servo in place with control arm at about 8 o'clock....and then new servo with control arm moved to 10:30 after ignition on. While old was stuck at 8 only cold air flowed to passenger floor vent instead of warm. Hope this helps someone.

So My symptoms are slightly different than your but I think the problem may be the same. My AC controls are unresponsive for the first minute or so that the van is running and then they come on. Also, when running the AC, the air is cold everywhere except the passenger side where it is very hot. The dealership tells me it’s going to cost $2600 because the dash has to be disassembled and there is a Freon recharge needed after the repair. But I’ve seen numerous people on here say it’s not. Do you know if there another servo I’m not aware of that is unreachable without removing the dash, and that would cause the passenger side to always blow hot air even when the AC is running?

THANK YOU!!! I just got done with my 2007. There is jack sh*t nothing anywhere else on this so the description helped me out greatly. The laugher as far as mine goes is that I couldn't get it to click for anything after I got everything out of the way and before I removed it. Regardless, I removed it, opened it up, did a bit of shimming and such, and put it back. We shall see but your description made it so easy to get out, I hardly care if it clicks again. I'll just replace it if that happens. :)

Thanks for this post. The instructions on removing the floor duct was exactly what I needed to get the job done on my 2008 XLE. On mine, I fixed the actuator myself. Once opened up, all that was needed was to remove all the grease that had migrated from the large gear to the sensor position surface and slightly bend up the sensor forks. I used to some electronics contact cleaner and Q-tips and got it all cleaned up and back together and no more "hunting/clicking" sound.

Big shout-out to kevaug. It took a bit of finessing to get the air vent out. It helps to have another set of hands from the passenger seat pulling the glove box dashboard framing out to get the air vent to drop down. A small knob Phillips #2 screwdriver is required to get the third (upper-right) screw out, because anything longer and you can't line it up around the fan blower, which you DON'T want to remove.

Do test the mechanism before reassembly. Sienna needs to be rolling for heat to kick in.

OK. BEFORE you buy a new servo (Denso part #AW063700-8680), open the old one up and clean the excess grease out of the gear teeth. Make sure to mark the position of the attenuator arm for reassembly before you crack it open. Voila, no more click-grinding noise! It was like nails on a chalkboard to me.

TOTAL COST: $0 (my time).

@Klo138 The controls, servo count and plenum system are different depending on your van model.

Base / LE = Manual controls, single flap plenum with a single AirMix servo on the passenger side that runs both halves of the flap.
XLE/Limited = Auto controls, dual flap plenum with an AirMix servo on both sides that run each half flap independently.

The AC Amplifier (the brain) is behind the front control panel. Other threads talk about replacing unresponsive units. You'll have to keep reading thru the various HVAC threads, or try the search.

If you have the split system, then yes, the servo on the passenger side may be stuck. The instructions in this thread may help you.

If you have a single system, there are other possibilities to explore.
