Adding Ambient Light to Foot Wells

Just got an 2017 LTD AWD, I purchased a Prestigious Society controller to have the passenger enter address's into the nav. I'm installing this weekend and wanted to fix the only other issue I have with the van, you can't see in the foot wells and the little cargo area between the front seats at night! I'm hoping some one knows which wire under the dash to tap into too power additional lights when the dash is lit up? I would like to have added lights to go on and off with the head lights, I have other cars that came with this feature and its great for finding stuff with the kids asleep in back.

Why not tap the new light to the cupholder light.

I got a led kit from Amazon and wired the box to the accessory fuse under the dash and it comes with a remote so you can turn it on and off and different colors too

I tried tying into the light in the cup holder it appears to be a low voltage light as the 12v LED I got off of Amazon didn't light up. I would like to know what light kit from amazon Banzai12 used and a picture of the wiring set up would be amazing if you have the time to help out. That image is exactly what I am trying to achieve.

i've been trying to find a power source for footwell lights also...i looked at the cupholder light and the wire is very, very thin...that made me not want to use it.

i have a 2016 and it has a cover over the fuse box under the dash which prevents me from adding anything...did you just remove the cover or did you modify it somehow?

Just take the cover off. I've stored my cover in the glove compartment ever since I hardwired my dashcam to the fusebox.

Re: Adding Ambient Light to Foot Wells

I did something similar to that but I only wired the front and haven't had the time to find a suitable way to mount the back.

The item I bought was the OPT7 Aura LED Interior Light strip. Amazon link http://a.co/dbFMuOE

Not trying to sell it but, this comes with 4 strips and 4 separate power cables so you can run and tuck the cables to your liking, if thats your thing. Two remotes, one for on/off and color options and a mini one to change the modes (strobe, cycle, music, etc). It comes with fuses so you can tap into your fuse box, which I did and put the fuse box cover in the glove box, or you can use it with the cigarette lighter plug and it comes with an on/off switch too. There is also a separate cable that you can wire it up to your dome lights or what not to trigger it when you have your door open (I haven't tried it yet).

It does cost twice as much $45 compared to the cheapo $20~$25 ones but with all the things you get with it is well worth it.

I hooked the lights to my CIG fuse so it'll be on when the car is on and off when the car is off. In the future I want to try getting it to turn on with the doors and triggering it on with headlights, but thats another project on my to do list.

I ended up going for these

Amazon Link: http://a.co/0sfDnvj

haven't received them yet. I liked that they have the app to control the lighting. I will post a review once installed.

UPDATE
These aren't exactly what I thought they were. Pretty decent, it not something that can be wired into the door light switch or a fuse panel.

They are well constructed and the app lets you use your songs with the lights to pulse in sync.

Well. You CAN... But it'll require some work and sacrifices. You'll need to cut off the cigarette lighter plug, separate the wires and then tap it to fuse and ground. But you'll lose the ability to turn it on and off via the plug.

The ones I've linked from OPT7 actually has everything you were looking for. Direct fuse connection and courtesy light wiring.

You can. Extra step. I did it myself. I had an extra switch left over from the Viper Remote Starter install so I used that. Super small.
