    Air Lift 1000 and Compressor

Well, the Air Lift 1000 and compressor I ordered should be here today. Has anyone gotten the on-board compressor? If so, where did you mount it and what issues did you have? I probably won't tackle the project for a few weeks and hope to mount the compressor under the hood as opposed to the interior somewhere or underneath somewhere.

Anyone ever try to devise some type of secondary air line off of the compressor that could be used to inflate toys, etc? I may try to figure out a way to do it I would think I would need some type of valve that would allow me to switch from the line for the air bags to the secondary line without allowing the bags to deflate and also have some type of connection on the end of the secondary line to attach a hose to. I don't know if I could use a standard air hose quick disconnect like I have on my large compressor.

I'll try to document the install, but I always seem to forget to take pictures once I get started.

Re: Air Lift 1000 and Compressor

I don't have a built-in compressor, but I have seen a description in another forum of an installation of an air compressor (for air bags in the springs) mounted behind the interior panel of the driver's side of the rear cargo area. It was very tidy, and very nicely done.

Mounting in the underhood area also makes sense to me, as long as the compressor is designed for exterior conditions. I found that there were some nuts welded inside holes in the driver's side frame rail at the front, just ahead of the battery, (presumably used for an option I don't have) which provide a place to bolt on a bracket for equipment under the hood without drilling holes. I used them to mount my relays and circuit breakers for trailer wiring, but perhaps that location might work for an air compressor.

Thanks for the input. I hope to get out there this weekend (assuming it isn't still raining) and see where it might fit.
