    actual van weight

Hi everyone, has anyone weighed their van ready to roll? I recently had the opportunity to weigh my van at an MTO scales that were turned on at the time and the weight display is angled so the driver can read it. The van with 7/8 tank of gas, 2 medium sized adults and two 40lb ish children with carseats, a cooler (18 can) and two suitcases weighed in at 5280lbs. I also weighed the front of wheels only... the weight was 2816lbs. the rear wheels were 2464 lbs. I also have a class 3 trailer hitch. My sienna is the awd limited, '04. Just wondering if anyone else has any numbers to compare?

    cheers,

    shineysideup

My 2004 LE, front-wheel-drive, with a driver, a bit of the junk which usually rides in the van, and a half tank of fuel, weight 2025 kg (4455) lb the first time I weighed it at a highway scale. The only non-standard equipment on the vehicle is the factory hitch and trailer wiring. On every other weighing, the trailer has been attached.

Axle weights were 1145 kg (2519 lb) front, and 885 kg (1947 lb) rear (no, they don't add up exactly, highway scales are not that accurate).

I believe that shineysideup's weights are higher than mine due to three factors:
    • additional passengers
    • additional optional equipment due to trim level
    • AWD

I could be underestimating the "extra stuff" in the van also... DW = 120lbs, kids and carseats = 65lbs x 2, 2 suit cases?, cooler? I was quite surprised that when I converted the weights (from kg to lbs) they added up! Dumb luck I guess... I only used 2.2 kg/lb for a conversion factor... It is interesting that the sienna site only quotes about 300lbs difference between the models...
