What towing hitch should I get and where?

    Hello all,

I have a 2004 Sienna XLE Limited and I understand that it comes standard with 3500 lbs towing capacity. I assume I don't need to add anything more under the hood to take advantage of the towing capacity.

I'm planning to buy a boat soon and need to install a hitch. I have been to U-haul before to have new hitches installed in a previous vehicle but I'm sure there must be other places where I can get good quality hitches installed.

Can someone recommend a good hitch and where I can get a good deal on that hitch? Where should I get it installed? Would a U-haul hitch work fine and is it an affordable option? Thanks!

Take a look at this topic, "Curt 13256 Hitch", a few lines below this one. I don't have my Sienna yet, so of course don't have the hitch. I have been finding the that topic to be really helpful.

    Hi, [Rushabh] and welcome!

We are very fortunate to have several experienced and knowledgeable members for towing matters.

I'm pretty sure [gayle] is referring to this thread:

Sometimes the "order" of the topics/threads will change as some are updated with new posts and others become "stale" with no new posts. Generally, posts that have more recent comments will be listed higher up for the default sort order. You can also change the order by clicking on the column headings to re-sort.

And there is a helpful [search] feature at the top-right of most pages.

    Hello Rushabh, also welcome.

I got my hitch last summer at an U-haul in Oxnard California, their regular hitch supplier was out back-ordered. So, they ordered from their back-up supplier and got me a Curt Hitch for the same quoted price. $150 for the hitch $30.00 for install, figured it was a good deal.

U-Haul doesn't make hitches, but in my limited experience shopping for hitches (both for the Sienna and for my Focus), they do have good prices on them. I don't trust them, but then I would do my own installation.

Around here, there are many hitch shops; RV dealers and auto dealers sell them as well, but are not sensible sources. For anyone doing their own installation (which is just six bolts), there are several online sources as well.

As I mentioned in Canada: Uhaul Hitch for Sienna 2006, U-Haul's regular supplier for the Sienna appears to be Valley. They often have an alternate (among Draw-Tite, Valley, and Curt) source; the hitch may be nearly identical, or just functionally similar.
