Anybody tried the $116 hitch from Suspension Connection

    Hello:

I need a hitch to hang the kid's bikes off my 2004 Sienna a few times a year. I understand people are very happy with the Curt 13256, but since my need is occasional, I can't help but be tempted by the $116 hitch sold by Suspension Connection

Anyone here had experience with this particular hitch on a Sienna? Your feedback would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Yann

The "Quality S" hitch shows up again; see Re: '06 Sienna LE AWD, Thule Bike + Type III hitch--->example posted. for the previous discussion.

I don't have this hitch, I have not learned anything about Quality S Manufacturing since the previous discussion, and I would still hesitate to buy anything about which there is so little information available. It might be worth contacting the manufacturer for an installation instruction sheet - if they don't have one I wouldn't buy it, and if they do have one it might show the product (note that Suspension Connection's photo is not of a Sienna hitch).

    Hello,

I actually ordered this same exact hitch from suspensionconnection.com. I should be getting it tomorrow. I will let you know how that goes, and maybe post some pics of it installed. My biggest concerned with any hitch was the graound clearance. I am praying this thing won't scrape. But as a backup, I did also order some airbags for the rear coils.

Re: Anybody tried the $116 hitch from Suspension Connection

Hey, I just got my "Quality S" hitch today and installed it on my own too . The hitch install was pretty straight forward and easy until I got to the end on it when I had to reattach the exhaust hanger to my tailpipe, pain in the neck and my thumbs. 20 minutes, a screwdriver, and penetrating oil later, I got it back on. I only took it off because of the instructions, but if I did it all over again, I wouldn't even mess with it because at the end, using my socket extention, and universal joint attachment to my socket did the trick of tightening the bolts with the tailpipe in the way.

So the finish job is basically the hitch looks beefy and strong to handle what it claims to "5000 lbs." But that means its thick and hangs low, like 4 inches lower than normal rear bumper height. Personally I think that's not terrible considering its a 2 inch class 3 receiver. Driving the van after the install was not back even coming in and out of driveways. The only oops was when getting onto an incline on ramp with a bad dip right before it, the baby scraped :o. Thank the Lord, I'm getting my rear springs in a few days to alleviate the low hanging rear. I don't think the rear height is as bad as it sounds, the problem is the rear suspension sags any moment it can and is not stiff enough to handle bumps as it will soak any bump way into the wheelwells. I can wait to do my first tow with it though. I will include some pics tomorrow and try to do an install write if you guys want
