I got to looking at the large diameter air intake duct and it looked as if it gets pretty narrow just passed the hood scoop. I got the cut off wheel out and lopped it off just passed where the narrow diameter intake duct plugs into the hood scoop. This leaves a gaping intake passage right under the filter box when the the AICS valve opens up. I was wondering about the "cold air" aspect though. Now all of the air comes from the engine compartment when the butterfly valve opens instead of from the hoodscoop. My thoughts were when this happens, the car would be doing freeway speed and the air would be pretty cool anyway. Any thoughts on this?
