    I have towed a Uhaul 5' x 9' utility trailer.
It is 1000 lbs EMPTY and I did not have a LOT of weight inside it, but am sure that it was around 1300 to 1500 lbs trailer & luggage combined.
This trailer does NOT have brakes.
The vehicle did just fine on flat and in the mountains.
I do not have the "towing package", but installed a auxillary transmission cooler and the airlift 1000 bags on the rear.
My trip was 14 hours driving time each way on the interstate and then driving to and from worksites during the week on roads with hairpin turns up and down the mountains with 7 of us in the vehicle.
I am very impressed with how my 2003 Sienna did.
It is no truck, but it did very well.
As always, one has to leave extra space in front to permit for increased stopping distance due to the extra weight.

The lack of brakes is why the 5x10 is a better choice - U-Haul tandem-axle trailers have brakes, and trailer brakes fix the brake performance problem. I have a 2004 but I'm sure the first generation would handle this sort of trailer without difficulty.
