    GCVW

    Hello,

I have a 2008 Sienna CE - front wheel drive. I have looked everywhere for the GCVW and can not find it. Does any one know what it is? I have seen a few GCVW numbers, but was not sure if they varied much by model year.

Thank you for any and all help.

    Gunter

    Re: GCVW

A "Caution" notice on page 458 in the Trailer towing part of Section 3 (Starting and driving) of the 2008 manual includes the GCWR:
The maximum gross trailer weight (trailer weight plus cargo weight) must never exceed the following.
    Without towing package
    544 kg (1200 lb.)
    With towing package
    1587 kg (3500 lb.)

The combination of the gross trailer weight added to the total weight of the vehicle, occupants and vehicle cargo must never exceed a total of the following.
    Two–wheel drive models
    Without towing package
    2903 kg (6400 lb.)
    With towing package
    3946 kg (8700 lb.)
    All–wheel drive models
    Without towing package
    2948 kg (6500 lb.)
    With towing package
    3992 kg (8800 lb.)
This is the same as my 2004 manual, except that the 2008 (and presumably all Siennas with the 2GR-FE engine, which means starting in 2007) has lower values for the "without towing package" case. The slight difference between two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive is presumably due to the shorter (more gear reduction, so higher engine speed) final drive ratio used with the U151F transaxle in the all-wheel-drive Sienna compared to the U151E transaxle in the two-wheel-drive.

It probably doesn't help for searching that nowhere in this notice in the manual is the acronym "GCWR" or the exact term "gross combined weight rating" used.

    Re: GCVW

I just noticed that the acronym "GCVW" (meaning Gross Combined Vehicle Weight) was being used. This would be the actual weight, rather than the upper limit or rating. Also, the "vehicle" part is normally left out, so the term is just
Gross Combined Weight (or Gross Combination Weight) for the actual weight, and
Gross Combined Weight Rating (or Gross Combination Weight Rating) - GCWR - for the limit.

Still, the exact term "GCWR" is not in the manual, so searching can be difficult.
