Yes, fuel varies by market and legislative jurisdiction. Among other factors, the alcohol content has both mandated maximum and - in some cases - mandated minimum values. The required and typical compositions even vary by season. Since ethanol has much higher octane than actual petroleum gasoline, blends with higher alcohol may have higher octane, which may allow better performance; on the other hand, alcohols have less energy per unit volume, so more of the high-alcohol fuel is required if the efficiency is the same.
I don't know how Ontario (shineysideup's home turf) and nearby states (e.g. New York, Michigan, etc) compare in this respect.
