My 2005 Sienna XLE has developed a new problem:

The lift-gate will lift up using power but it doesn't go down using power.
I have to pull it down to close it. It doesn't engage the power close on the way down. It's as if the power to the lift-gate for the way down is off.

So up works fine. I can use my keyless entry or use the power button in the van but down doesn't work.

I need to remove the panel I assume.
Is that a difficult thing to do?

Then does anybody have any ideas as to what to look for?
