I have been reading and reaserching on the net and i read that it is not good for any printer.. i have been wanting to switch since i spend a lot for genuine HP ink jet cartridges. would i need to change my printer also,if i am going to switch to refills or non oem cartridges?

I cannot speak for newer printers. I have an old HP HP640C printer and here in Mexico, I have a source of new chinese cartridges, for about $10 or so, maybe $13 for the color cartridge. I get great use out of them. I do not know if they are available in the US. I would actually like a new printer, but do not want to pay the big bucks for cartridges so I plug along with my 10+ year old machine.

I have an HP6940 printer, which uses #96 and #97 cartridges. A pair of cartridges (one black, one color) from Office Depot or similar supplier is about $65.

I get my cartridges from one of two eBay suppliers that refurbish, then refill them. A 4-pack (two black, two color) from them is shipped to my house for about $28.

I have run probably 15-20 of each cartridge through the printer, and have only had a couple that were "less than perfect".

A very small inconvenience whan you consider how much I have saved on ink.
