I just had the front wheel hubs replaced at local garage. No other work done. The brakes are now VERY spongy and almost feels like the front brakes are not working.

Garage took all 4 tires of and bled brake system, and the master cylinder in case of air vacuum. Still have problem.

We are at a loss as to what it could be. Any thoughts?

Specs: 2006 Sienna CE, 218,500 miles

I just replaced the front and rear brake pads in my 06 XLE a few months back. I did bleed all the brake lines. Did you see any oil (grease) left on your brake pads or rotor? I am surprised that you got 200k+ miles on it (Is it for business use?)

Yes, I use it for business...sales rep.
The garage bled the system this morning. When you pump the brake pedal, the front brakes seem to work a little. If I just press on the pedal without pumping, it goes way down and almost feels like the front brakes are not working.

It still sounds like there is air in there. If you were to bleed the brakes without keeping the master cylinder full, it's possible to get air down into the ABS pump and it could be hard to get it back out. Don't have time to look now, but I think there is a bleed nipple on the pump somewhere.

Well, I went to the dealer as I did not want to drive the van in that condition. They looked it over and the lines are fine. The calipers and pins are shot. They are froze up and are not releasing.

They are putting it back togather now and i will be Picking up new calipers, rotors, and pads on the way home. Should have it all fixed by tomorrow.

Thanks for the help.

I know this is an old thread but, I have the same problem. It is intermittent on my 08. Three times in the last year. It has happened on the first engagement in the morning backing down from my steep driveway twice. Foot goes to the floor with approximately 50% of my stopping power. Had to employ emergency brake. Thought it was just a cold brake problem and pumping the brake peddle would eliminate it on start-up. However; today, not backing up, not the first use of the brake, it gave me the problems at a stop sign. Time to do something about this.
