  1. Transmission cooler installation 2016

    Mods and Projects (Gen 3)
Call it what you want but Toyota calls the factory installed transmission cooler an "ATM OIL COOLER " in their parts list. The Sienna with the same factory installed transmission cooler is rated to tow 4,400 pounds in some countries it's sold it. IMO, your installation of an additional...
  2. Transmission cooler installation 2016

    Mods and Projects (Gen 3)
Does this new ATM fluid cooler replace the factory installed one or is it additional. If it is additional, how is the fluid flow routed? Is is first to the OEM cooler and then to the new one or vice versa?
  3. Towing trailer on 2017 Sienna XLE AWD

    Towing & Hauling
The 2018 Sienna sales brochure says that all 2018 Sienna trims except those with the auto access seat have the tow prep package: http://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/Toyota/Sienna/Toyota_US%20Sienna_2018.pdf IIRC, the engine oil cooler in the 2017-up Sienna tow prep package looks pretty...
  4. 2015 Limited vs 2017 xle premium

    General Discussion (Gen 3)
It sounds like the 2017 XLE is the more desirable of these two.
  5. 2012 vs 2013

    General Discussion (Gen 3)
Differences between the 2012 and 2013 are dependent on trim. For example the 2013 XLE and Limited got acoustic windshields for the first time and the Limited got turn signals in the exterior mirror covers instead of in the glass. The sales brochures help but don't explain all the differences...
  6. 2015 Limited vs 2017 xle premium

    General Discussion (Gen 3)
Which one depends on what is important to you. You didn't say exactly how these two vehicles are equipped. There are essentially three versions of the 2015 Limited: 1. Limited base 2. Limited Premium 3. Limited Premium with the Advantaged Technology Package There are three versions of the...
  7. AWD vs FWD for Longevity

    General Discussion (Gen 3)
Well I sure have plenty Winter driving experience in upstate New York - particularly in the Lake Placid and Gore Mountain areas. And I drove all over the Colorado mountains in Winter for decades going to and from ski areas. I polished my Winter skills as a teenager in the Michigan U.P. where...
  8. AWD vs FWD for Longevity

    General Discussion (Gen 3)
Yeah, let's have a rumble! Since you live in "new friggin york", fibber2 lives in the Mid-Hudson Valley and his and my gen 3 FWD Sienna Limiteds use Blizzak WS80 Winter tires on Sienna 17" wheels, I'll let him fill in for me in the rumble. The idea that "you need the awd to get moving" is...
  9. traction control

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 3)
Traction control did nothing noticeable to suppress wheel spin when starting from a stop on wet roads even when my 2014 Sienna was new. Other vehicles made by Toyota we've owned have also allowed what seems to be an excessive amount of wheel spin on wet roads when traction control was on...
  10. My first complaint about my 2020 Sienna

    General Discussion (Gen 3)
Have you tried adjusting the screen format as explained in topic "AUDIO SCREEN ADJUSTMENT" in the navigation manual? There are stretch and zoom settings.
  11. Dimensions of cargo space

    Anything Sienna
"Impractical" is the last word I would use to describe the cargo space behind the 3rd row of the gen 3 Sienna. Like all the Toyota products we've owned since 1990, the cargo space seems to be designed to carry the largest possible number of the largest rolling carry-on luggage pieces allowed by...
  12. 2016 or 2017 Sienna?

    General Discussion (Gen 3)
Don't exclude the 2018 if one falls into your lap. The additional standard safety technology in the 2018 is totally worth it and the 2018 can be upgraded by the dealer to CarPlay. The OP in a recent thread bought an ex-Hertz rental 2018 Sienna...
  13. Building my Winter Tire Package

    General Discussion (Gen 3)
That's older than I would have expected from Tire Rack but still pretty reasonable. After being reminded by this thread, I measured the tread depth on my Sienna's WS80's today. All are at just over 8/32 inch after two Winters of use - about 10,000 miles. They started out with 12/32" of tread...
  14. 2018 Sienna - Cannot change clock manually nor does it display time

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 3)
Well that is new information! Holding out on us, eh? That might indicate a defect if the clock previously worked. Maybe the dealer tech disconnected the battery before replacing the hazard switch somehow mucking up the clock. Is that when the clock stopped displaying?
  15. 2018 Sienna - Cannot change clock manually nor does it display time

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 3)
Edit: I suppose I should confirm that your LE is a 2018. Is it? According to the 2018 Sienna Sales brochure, the 2018 LE has standard Scout GPS Link with a 3-year complementary subscription. See the brochure at: http://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/Toyota/Sienna/Toyota_US Sienna_2018.pdf I...
  16. 2018 Sienna - Cannot change clock manually nor does it display time

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 3)
I'm barely knowledgeable about the 2018-up Toyota head units except for rental car experience but I'll try. Which Sienna model do you have and does it have navigation? If it has navigation, does it have the system that uses Scout GPS or the premium navigation version that doesn't? If it...
  17. Scheduled Maintenance - so confused over manual vs dealership

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 3)
Recording oil and filter changes in a log book seems to be adequate documentation for warranty purposes - at least it was when I was asked for proof that timely oil changes had been performed before an engine in a Mercedes was replaced under warranty in the mid 1980's. Here's a photo of the...
  18. Scheduled Maintenance - so confused over manual vs dealership

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 3)
Look at the maintenance schedule booklet that came with your Sienna. Don't let the dealer talk you into anything that is not shown.
  19. Building my Winter Tire Package

    General Discussion (Gen 3)
The following verbiage is in my 2014 Sienna owners manual in the Do-it-your-self maintenance section: "Any tire over 6 years old must be checked by a qualified technician even if it has seldom or never been used or damage is not obvious." The Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 Winter tires we use on...
  20. 2016 or 2017 Sienna?

    General Discussion (Gen 3)
Unfortunately, 2018 was the first model year that the Sienna got standard Safety Sense. You can view the brochures for previous model years at http://www.auto-brochures.com/toyota.html The 2011-2017 Sienna Limited FWD with the Advanced Technology Package had several of the Safety Sense...
