  1. Used transmission

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 2)
Bought several engines etc through the years without incident. Don't bother with high mileage transmissions. junkyard hotline sortof
  2. No roof rails and need an option.

    Mods and Projects (Gen 3)
I've had an old $40 universal roof rack mounted on three different vehicles. The last one was my 99 sienna. The only change was the shape of the hook for the pinch weld under the door or rear window weatherstrip. Made the hooks myself. I actually had a Toyota roof rack for my Sienna but it's...
  3. 2011 Sienna SE - Dealer recommends replacing Control Arms & Lower Ball Joints

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 3)
Repair shops and anything medical. The funny part is these crooks think of themselves as hero's, backbone of society.
  4. Battery drain when vehicle sits for over 24 hrs

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 3)
Sounds like your mechanic is on the right track. Probably a live shorted diode in the alternator. A while back my nissan alt quit so I bought a $30 alt from a junk yard. Had to pay the core fee because I was using the van with the bad alt to pick up the junk yard alt. A month latter the junk...
  5. Painting lower plastic panels to match vehicle

    Mods and Projects (Gen 1)
Sound miserable. Good concept but it looks like you don't have any equipment or materials. Your a better man than I.
  6. 2006 AWD rear differential seal replacement cost?

    General Discussion (Gen 2)
Not Sienna specific. If clogged pressure can build when warm and may push oil past seals. Worth a look. Picture? I can't find one anywhere on the web.
  7. Unusual vibration of engine while using AC

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 1)
Exhaust touching somewhere? Excessive engine movement?
  8. 2006 AWD rear differential seal replacement cost?

    General Discussion (Gen 2)
Check that the vent isn't plugged. A picture would help.
  9. Anyone use a dash cover? My dash is sticky. (Recall expired). Options?

    General Discussion (Gen 2)
To stop reflection in the windshield I covered mine with black felt. Used paper as a template and hemmed it with some thin strips of iron activated adhesive fabric stabilizer. Attached with velcro (felt sticks to velcro). Looks good. $13
  10. Salvaging parts off a 01 Sienna LE

    General Discussion (Gen 1)
Unless your forced to scrap it, don't remove any parts. Takes up the least space. You never know what will be needed. If your forced to scrap it, disassembly is easy, storage is hard. Easier just to buy a $100 sub frame from a junk yard and pray the bolts aren't seized. Really easy if the break...
  11. Rust inspection and trouble spot opinions for a new gen2 buyer.

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 2)
2nd gen's are entering the age where "rusty" won't save you much. Of course if your looking to drive five years for no money a low mile, slightly rusty Sienna's the way to go. Plus it's kind of nice to be able to modify without worrying about losing value.
  12. 2016 or 2017 Sienna?

    General Discussion (Gen 3)
The Midwest has micro climates. AWD makes sense down wind from a great lake or living in a swamp but not so much everywhere else. Keep in mind AWD doesn't like different size tires (it breaks), even if the difference is from your slacking at tire rotation. Snow tires (I've never needed) make...
  13. 2011 Sienna- Broken valve spring - need a new engine!

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 3)
If the block's OK I'd buy a salvage yard head $100, gaskets and bolts $100 and maybe a timing chain/water pump kit. Then spend a weekend reading and turning bolts. Think of it as earning $3500 over the weekend. Beware, you might learn something.🙀
  14. 2011 Sienna SE - Dealer recommends replacing Control Arms & Lower Ball Joints

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 3)
Just check the parts by yourself or a trusted mechanic. Sometimes you just have to say no and assume the liability. $2662 is obscene. Guessing two hours labor, and that generous. Watch a couple videos of it being done. Lower control arms @ rock auto Update: Your posting made me ponder the...

Did you try the edit? It's right of the time stamp, top line.
  16. Full tank of gas and display say less than 300 miles before empty?

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 3)
Prior lower mileage from a heavy foot lowers the mileage estimate. I've found the brake pedal lowers mileage more than the gas pedal.
  17. my vehicle Toyota sienna 2004. It moves very well on reverse but not on drive

Problems, Maintenance, and Repair (Gen 2)
Hallelujah, tell us more. I still have my brothers Sienna.
  18. Painting lower plastic panels to match vehicle

    Mods and Projects (Gen 1)
I like it, giving me the itch to change something. What paint/technique did you use? What exactly is that valance?
  19. What was the final nail? So we can avoid it.

    General Discussion (Gen 1)
Sort of your own fault. If your going to throw parts at a problem you don't start with the most expensive parts. Good luck with your GM. My Supreme International is great car as long as I repair the rust every 5 years or so.
  20. Previa Owners (Past & Present)...Please share...

    1984 - 1997 Toyota Van & Previa Minivans
Wisconsin. If only it wasn't for all the rust.:( All my favorite vehicles died because of rot. Previa's were particularly prone. As was "Patches", my zippy Axxess. Sienna's are less prone, at least til much later. Holly molly, what is holding those Chrysler's together?
