Anyone know if the third row power seats, driver's rearview electric mirror or the clicking for the air conditioner actuator are/were covered?
There was a TSB for the seats, but not a warranty extension. I had my seat frames replaced under warranty. There was nothing on the mirror or the a/c actuator.

I'm so glad I found this posting. The sliding door on our 2006 got stuck open on my wife and daughters on a very cold night. I had to drive it home with the door wide open. I tarped it and tore it apart the next day with a friend of mine. We had to disconnect the outer cable assembly to actually get the door to close. We tested the electronics and were getting no power to the motor. Thought it was the computer multiplex. Before I was going to order the part I stumbled upon this posting of the extended warranty and contacted Toyota USA. They set up a check at my local dealership and the technician concluded that the motor did have some power, but it was being restricted by the pulley on the back of the motor. Praise God it was a part covered by the extended warranty. That's a $1900 job! I wanted to thank the person that posted the information about the extended warranty and to spread the word that Toyota is actually trying to make the problem right. Thanks again for being kind enough to share your knowledge with the public.

Glad you got it covered. My 06 XLE has 105k miles on it now. I still have one year left for the warranty. I do suggest people to lubricate the sliding door. Mine still works like new:).

@narboza, thanks for posting this.
Our Sienna power sliding door doesn't close without assistance. I had saved the warranty extension when I received it but completely forgot about it.
Our van has done 102k miles and so this should be covered.
Thanks again. Thanks to Toyota for excellent customer service. Off to the dealer

Mine is 04 and over 110K miles. i am still in the warranty for this sliding door issue ?
Maybe. The new warranty period for these specific door parts: 9 years from the date of first use or 120,000 miles.

I noticed a couple posts on here mentioning the center hinge. It seems to me that the hinge might be what is causing all these failing cable assemblies but I'm curious on your input. I recently had the cable assembly repaired at the dealership. The technician said that the hinge caused it to fail, and that if they told Toyota that it was the hinge that caused the failure, then toyota would not cover the cable assembly under the warranty extension. And while they covered the repair of the cable assembly, I had to cover the cost of replacing the center hinge. He said it was sagging and caused the cable to fail.

I wasn't sure what that really meant until the other day I noticed now that our other sliding door is making a rough clank when closing or opening and noticed the hinge is rubbing on the rubber sill in the track. Sure enough, I think the hinge is sagging causing it to rub, putting strain on the cable. I found a very detailed video of the procedure for replacing the hinge, doesn't look too bad. But if you skip to the end, you can see exactly what is failing on the hinge. It just simply wears out.

So now I have to decide, do I fix the hinge myself ($115) part, and then chance my cable lasting till after the warranty extension expires and then having to get it fixed on my dime, or let the cable fail again, at which point I would probably have to pay toyota $300 again to replace the hinge. And I'm use this strain is not good for the motor either, which toyota will not cover either.

I can see one door being an anomaly, but both hinges going out? Sure seems to me this is the root cause of the problem and should be covered by this warranty extension. Thoughts?

Here is the link to the video if anyone is curious: http://youtu.be/MhWoaAI4Bt8

My sliding door cable just snapped just past the extended warranty (120600 mi). Anyone know of any way to still get warranty service from Toyota for this problem? Any experience getting warranty coverage just past warranty?

My door quit working the other day. I was looking on the internet to see if I could figure out how expensive the repair is. When I stumbled on this warranty extension. I called my local Toyota dealer to see if my van had been fixed. It had been in May 2012,but is broken again! I was told the new part was only covered for a yr !!!

Hopefully this isn't too presumptuous, but my Girlfriend's left sliding door stopped closing the other day (2008 Sienna). It will close with the motor or by hand, but the latch won't "click over" so it just hangs open. Obviously she can't drive around with kids in the back and the door open. I'm going to call the dealer to see if it is a warranty or "CSP" thing that's covered, but if it's not, where should I start with parts? I can take the door apart and change the parts out, just not sure which one to change and I don't want to throw money at a bunch of parts if I only need one. I'm pretty handy and have worked on my own F150s for years, I just have no idea what to do with a Toyota Minivan.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have a 2009 Sienna that both sliding doors stopped working with all buttons and remote, but still work fine manually. No unusual noises when trying buttons at all. All latches work fine too. I checked all fuses and lock out switches by swapping them out with back door lock out switch. Power latch at back of door still operates fine too. All cables are in good shape. Any ideas?

I have a 2009 Sienna that left sliding door cable just snapped. I took it to the dealer and they told me that the extended warranty only covers 2004-2007 model, although 2009 Sienna one has the same problems. The repair would cos $2100. Any suggestions, is there anything that we can do as a consumer to have Toyota extend the warranty on 2009 Sienna as well?

Thanks!

I filed a safety complaint to the NHTSA site. I also called Toyota's Customer line and made a report. I hope they include our years 2008-2010 in the enhanced warranty program. Here is the link to the NHTSA site... https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/
Anybody else have any ideas?

Some general advice from experience. Don't assume/presume anything. Even if your van is a bit out of warranty, call various dealers and also call Toyota. You have nothing to lose.

Bottom line is: Don't give up. Call around.

Wait til u get there, I went with two broken door latch handles, and of course they weren't't covered but they sure wanted their diagnostic fee of $100. It's all about the money, the customer is the stepchild. Greed and poor engineering quality is most of the problem. But don't for get to buy ANOTHER Toyota...NOT.

I have a 2008 Sienna XLE purchased here in Mexico used with about 80k miles back in October.

Fast forward end of December and both doors stopped working. One broke a cable (pas side).. the other dissintegrated some plastic roller parts and jammed up (driver side). The broke cable door I can open manually.. the other I keep closed as the cable has tons of slack and will get tangled up and scratch the paint. Previous owner stated that he had the doors repaired in September in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

Anyway, taking mine to a dealership in Obregon, Sonora, Mexcio (Hermosillo is 5 hours away.. Obregon just 1 1/2 hours). So, we will see how Toyota Mexico treats folks. I will report back. Clearly, I'm beyond the warranty, but we will see if the repairs done in September are warrantied.

If I'm not satisfied with the service or price, I'll just snap the other cable and use both doors manually. I had looked at a 2007 CE, but it just had too many miles...might have been the wiser purchase though.. oh well. So far satisified with the car. (though it's got the growling rack.. so we will be looking at servicing that soon as well.)

I'll report back here after next week or so.
