My wife was driving our 2007 TOYOTA Sienna then all of a sudden the engine light lit up and the engine starts shaking. She immediately brought the our van to TOYOTA dealership and they told her it show the code P0015 (the person there said it was camshaft timing over retarded) and code P0300 (multiple misfire detected). Can anybody please help me out on this codes. I really dont understand what it meant. Anyway, TOYOTA wants $3,000 to get it fixed. I hope somebody can tell me if I can do something about this issues..

Thanks,
Nelson

There are technical service bulletins out for the oil pressure controlled variable valve timing actuator failure, and P0015 (exhaust camshaft on Bank 1 - the side closest to the firewall) is a reasonable code. If the exhaust valve timing is appreciably off, a misfire on the back 3 cylinders can also occur. There is no extension of coverage, however, only up to the standard 5 yr, 60k miles. You didn't state your mileage, but I have to assume that if the dealer didn't offer to do the repair, you must be over that. If you are not way over, open a case with Toyota national and see if they will help. Good luck.
