Anyone know where this fuse located? How about the fuse for the rear stereo?

Ok i found it. So i checked the fuses by looking at them and replaced them. Still nothing, any ideas?
Are all lights on the rear hatch not working, but all other lights that aren't on the hatch OK? If so, I'd look for a broken or disconnected ground wire between the hatch and the rest of the van.

Does the Rear Wiper Motor run? Also does the Hatch Power Lock function?

all rear lights are out except for on the side of the hatchback. i will check around for the ground wire. that is a good idea, thanks! everything else works except the rear main audio system, side markers in front and what is in these pictures. the rear wiper, hatch power lock, and the brake light on top of hatchback works! i am thinking it might be a relay...what do you think?

thanks again roy c & phw!

Since the wiper and brake light above the window work, I doubt that you have a bad ground, assuming that Toyota used a common ground for every circuit running to the rear hatch. It could be a relay, if other lights up front are also out.

Another thought I had is that you might have a bad wiring harness connector. This is were a wiring diagram would be invaluable, if you could locate one. You could see if all of the affected circuits run through the same connector(s), then pull those connectors apart and look for breaks, corrosion, etc.

I also noticed the reverse lights work too. I think i will pick up the repair manual for it. Then i will know exactly were the wire harness is. Great idea. Checking that first is cheaper than buying a new relay. Thanks royc. I need to fix this, its driving me crazy...
Do me a favor and provide a concise summary of what is not working and what is, and I'll try to sift thru a few schematics and look for the commonality.

All you people are so nice to help me figure this out...THANKS!!!

WORKS:

FRONT
Headlights
Daylights
Hi Beams
Blinkers under the headlights
Dash lights

BACK
Blinkers, running and Brake lights on the side of the hatchback
Reverse lights
Brake light on top of the hatchback
Power Lock
Wiper
Cargo Outlet

DOESN'T WORK:

FRONT
Rear Audio System
Blinkers/side markers on the side of the headlight lens

BACK
Running lights and Brake lights on the hatchback
Running light on top of the hatchback (not sure if that is just a brake light or not)
Both plate lights

I also have a pics in post #5.

Thanks again

First glance shows no obvious interaction, but I'll look deeper. In the mean time, check out the following fuses carefully, as there are several in the entertainment system. Your numbering may vary, as I am looking at 2008 vehicle data:

#9 - Radio #3 - 30A (main system fuse) - probably OK as you have the front audio
#15 - Radio #1 - 15A - Audio
#23 - Rear seat entertainment - 7.5A - rear audio
#26 - Radio #2 - 7.5A - also rear functions

#41- labeled TAIL - Brake lights, license plate, side markers.
Ok. I will replace all these fuses when the lady gets home tonight. Thanks.
Unless I've missed it, I just don't see the commonality. Power sources & junction points, fuses, wiring looms (floor wire 1 or floor wire 2), different ground junctions, etc.... I'm at a loss.

Any incidents, accidents, etc - that might have damaged more than one thing?

thanks for checking that for me. also thanks for your time. i am really not concerned with the rear audio working. the lights would be great.

i checked 41 and it is 40 on a 2004. i replaced it. still nothing.

i did however notice that BRK (top left) relay is missing in the fuse box under the hood. is this the relay i need? check out the pics...or maybe that is brake for towing?

haha yes it was in an accident rear passenger side right by the sliding door/wheel, but i bought it this way...i dont know what happened. i am goning to fix that.

anymore ideas?

I'm not too happy right now! I don't mind donating my time to help people that suddenly have problems with their cars. You didn't disclose that you bought a van with accident damage and probably modifications by the previous owner to cover something up. I just made the assumption that you were an average owner who's van suddenly started having an electrical problem - two systems at once. You really wasted my time searching for a commonality for a sudden freak occurrence.

That said, here is what I see. There are wiring bundles running thru the door sills and into the area you say is damaged. You will probably find some mashed wires or a broken junction connector in there. The BRK relay interacts with the ABS system and the stop lights, so that might have been removed to stop a short from blowing additional fuses.

First of all, I want to apologize if I made you unhappy. I didn't mean for you waste your time. I am very thankful for your time. I am in no way a Sienna expert. I am the average owner...just because I bought this van with problems, I am wrong for asking for help? Or you helping me? I am asking for ideas...

I have the pics from the of the accident, I doubt the damage altered the wiring, but i could be wrong.

If the BRK is missing, is this the problem?

Like I said, if you feel like I wasted your time...I am sorry. I also thought that there could of been a common issue between the rear audio and the hatchback.

It's just that you didn't say that you bought the van that way. I (wrongly, I guess...) assumed that it just spontaneously stopped working, so I'm searching for common cause not knowing that there was crash damage, and quite possibly some monkeying around in the main junction box. This happened prior to you buying the van, and the apparent removal of the relay suggests that somebody may have done something to hide or mask another problem. But who knows...

You could try simply purchasing the relay, insert it and see how the situation changes. Looking at the pictures, I agree. Doesn't look like much. But something here just isn't making sense, so it might be wise to pull up the plastic sill cover at the rear slider and make sure that you aren't going to end up with a burned harness.

I shouldn't be mad, but it's the second time this week that I've gone thru the 'not full disclosure' thing. Fixing bugs is far easier when everyone tell all that they know up front. OK, lets move on!

Can anyone else with an '04 please verify the presence of the BRK relay?

I went to the Toyota dealer. They said that BRK is for the lazer/radar cruise control. I asked a different place and they said it is for the trailor lights. Hmm. I picked up the Haynes Repair Manual and I am goin to dive into it. I will let you know...
Well, I popped the cover on my fuse box today (LE - no radar cruise or tow package) and you are right - no relay. Confusing, as the "Stop Lights" schematic shows it, and not as an optional item. So I'm at a loss on how to go further without a lot of physical inspection of the wiring looms, connection points, ground point, etc.
I replaced the side markers again...they came on. I am thinking that i got some bad bulbs!!!
I took the new bad bulbs back to the store and exchanged them. I asked how often do people come back on account of bad bulbs...he told me it happens. Since the tail lights and the side markers are on the same fuse, I thought there was a problem somewhere else. It just didnt add up with fuses being ok. The side markers are the easy to replace, so when i put the bad new bulbs in, and they didnt turn on, i was puzzled...

Thanks to all that helped me on this one. I am gonna replace the liftgate lights now. They should come on, unless I bought more bad bulbs...
