At 262k miles the connector at the coil , if original , is probably dry and crumbling and may need a new termination. Check that first. What brand of spark plugs did you install and where did you buy them? Install another spark plug and see what happens.

 

I think the problem is my mechanic only changed the front spark plugs. Not the back three. I am having those changed and changing all the coils. I hope that keeps the engine light off so I can get it smogged. Fingers crossed !

 

If the mechanic is doing it, have him re-pin the coil connectors into new ones or solder on new ends. The ziptie method works for a while, but, eventually, zipties break and the wire blocks get bad enough that zipties won't hold them anyway.
