2006 Sienna Changed battery and now ac is cycling cool to warm.

Last thursday my wife said the van is getting harder to start. Friday night we are leaving a restaurant and the battery is dead. After we got jumped off, the van was running weird. At idle the RPM's was fluctuating from 600 to 1200. I got to Autozone to replace the battery and that was when I noticed the AC compressor was cycling on and off rapidly and that was causing the engine RPM's to fluctuate.

I gave it some gas to bring the RPM's up to 2000 and let it go back to idle and that seemed to smooth it out. Now the compressor has not done that since, but the AC seems to run like it is low on refrigerant. I bought a recharge kit, but it shows to be in range when the compressor is running. This morning it was 78 degrees outside and I checked the pressure on the low side of the AC but the compressor will run for a few seconds and then shut off for a few seconds. Of course when the compressor is running the pressure is within range and when the compressor shuts off the pressure rises. We had the system checked about 1 month ago. It was low on refrigerant, but they could not find any leaks.

Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Jason

compressor clutch or intermittent relay fault?

the a/c on our 04 ltd would work intermittently, but because it was almost random, it was hard to diagnose. turned out to be a faulty relay. changed relay, and (knock on wood) it's been fine since.

Ok thanks I will look at the relay first, being it is the easiest to change.
Also check your cabin filter(you'll see my old post) we had a dirty filter(and an obstruction) which caused the A/C to cycle off.
Well I have diagnosed the problem, and it was the compressor clutch relay. I switched out the relay with the horn relay and the ac continuously worked. While it was running I went ahead and tested the refrigerant pressure on the low side and it was within range. Everything seems to be working fine. Thank you all for the advise.
