2006 Sienna Limited AWD. We had several repair/maintenance items done and afterwards have several issues that were not present before. I'm posting about one at a time to keep them

They replaced both catalytic converters, brake pads, one hub/rotor, new clamp on one power steering line, new shifter cable grommet. And new o2 sensors.

There is now a chemical/solvent smell inside the cabin. I have stuck my face directly in the carpet around the cabin and cannot detect any hot spot like a spill. I also ran a/c and heat and stuck my face in each vent but the air blowing did not smell.

I reached out to the mechanic but wanted to get some independent thoughts.

It may just be burn-off of manufacturing oil on the cats, the "e-coating" on the rotors (if no bedding in was done), or dripped power steering fluid burning off (if the mechanic didn't own stock in Brake Kleen). Also possible that they did a "courtesy detailing" where they cleaned the climate system (or just the step 1 of spraying into the cowl) or shampooed the carpet and seats or stuck something in the cabin filter to make the car smell "fresh." The quick check is to pull the cabin filter and see if something ended up stuck in/on it.
