2006 Sienna XLE with 115k. Driver-side sliding door has recently started making creaking noises when going over uneven surfaces such as entering a driveway or over very small bumps. There was a TSB back in 2010 (T-SB-0094-10 March 16, 2010) to address Sliding Door Rattle While Driving.
It states: Some Sienna vehicles may exhibit a growling, ticking, clunking, or rattling noise near or around the left and/or right-hand sliding door when driving on rough road surfaces.
Noise generated by contact between the striker plate and lock assembly on 2004 – 2006 model year Sienna vehicles has been reduced by adding a resin coating to the sliding door striker plate and sliding door lock assembly. The updated part applies to both manual and power sliding doors. Noise generated by contact between the male and female slide door stoppers on 2004 – 2010 model year Sienna vehicles has been reduced by redesigning the male stopper (foam type material was added to the male stopper). The updated part applies to both manual and power sliding doors.
Does anyone have experience adding ‘a resin coating’ to the door striker and door lock assembly, or any experience installing the updated male and female stoppers? Apparently, the updated male stopper includes some foam material. Wondering if it really is as simple as unscrewing male stopper and replacing it with an updated stopper.
