Can the front struts from the 2008 FWD Sienna (full assemblies w/springs, like Monroe 172363/172364) be used on a 2008 AWD Sienna (like Monroe 172365/172366)?

Looks like the FWD ones are 0.4" shorter when extended, and compress 0.874" more than the AWD models.

Is it possible to mount the FWD front struts on the AWD model? If so, what are the differences in handling characteristics?

Rockauto sells kyb 8 passenger and awd front strut under $40 each, plus tax and shipping, while the 7 passenger ones $70-$80 each

If I were to redo again, I will never do full assembly quick strut again, gravely mistake, I've only removed, take assembly apart and then reinstalled strut like 10 times to find out non-oem parts are subpar, out of spec, non-conformance, financially didn't loose much because it was as diy, but i wasted 2 + days that I would have spent better quality time with family. I've learn my lesson.

Mine is an 8 seater, but not awd, I read online someone said 8 seater and awd are heavier duty than 7 seater due to extra weight.

Re: 2008 - FWD 7-Pass front struts on AWD

Both my front struts need replacing, and my front passenger spring is broken at the top, rubbing on the inside well whenever the wheel turns :frown:

I had accidentally ordered the wrong quick struts and honestly was trying to avoid waiting a week to get the replacements turned around (eating shipping costs in the process) if the shorter strut assemblies wouldn't be unsafe.

Given the weight explanation from rcamacho, I'll just suck it up and exchange them.

I wonder if a local retailer would take the unopened for an exchange (if they were told of the original vendor, I wouldn't lie to get the exchange done)? Hmm...

I would avoid quick strut assembly at all costs, Scotty Kilmer is funny but right, if you Google and watch his YouTube , the quick strut come with spring, but spring has extra loop of coil and when bounces, a
amazingly the spring touches each other creating clunking noise, my guess the broken spring is caused by seized strut bearing, keep twisting the spring, if I were u, I rather source a cheap used oem spring from egay or local junkyard
