Hello All,

I've read a bit on this issue. Mine is not leaking and the car has 160k on it. I have a couple of questions. I have found that the original 15707-13030 is the rear line with rubber is the one that can fail. Can I use part number 15772-31030 the front metal hose to replace part number 15707-13030? Is the front metal hose the one to use and will it go in OK?

A dorman 917-023 would work too but none can be found!

Yes, 15772-31030 is the updated all metal VVTI oil line to replace the old line with the rubber in the rear. You will also need these two gaskets 90430-16016 and 90430-16012. No need to replace the front metal VVTI hose since it's already all metal. Unless your are talking about the oil cooler line of the oil cooler.

If the VVTi oil line has already been replaced via recall (a call to a Toyota dealer with your VIN can verify), then there is no need to replace it again, even if it’s currently rubber. I’ve never heard of the “upgraded” rubber line that was correctly replaced failing (there is a very isolated case or two that the dealer replaced it mistakenly using the “older” rubber line, but that was EXTREMELY rare).

If you have the engine oil cooler and the lines to that currently include rubber sections then that absolutely needs to be upgraded to the all-metal lines ASAP. @supra129 second pic is of the upgraded all metal oil cooler lines.
