We have a 2011 Sienna LE with 59,000 miles on it.

Except for the regular oil changes, tire rotation, and the brake service, we haven't done much regular maintenance on it since we bought it from the showroom, except for may be a couple of times. It's a great van that's in an excellent condition, but being a total noob when it comes to cars, I now realize that I should have taken it to the dealer or another qualified mechanic for regular checks at the milestones specified in the manual. I think the last time I took it into the dealership was around 35,000 miles.

I've found a good mechanic who I plan to take my van to, but before I do that, I thought it would be prudent to seek advise on what should I be asking for. What kind of maintenance would have gone into the car from 35000 miles until now (almost 60000 miles) if I had taken it to the dealership regularly? Anything specific that I should be asking my mechanic to look into? I know this is a very broad question, but I need a general idea of what kind of problems start showing up after 35K and if there are maintenance milestones of the past that I could still catch up on.

Thanks all for your help!

ik this is old, but the end of your owners manual has a schedule of maintenance. i would get all belts checked and check condition of spark plugs. definitely check on brakes. if you havent had an alignment within the past 1.5 years or 15k miles, get that done too.

I’m in a similar boat with my 13 Limited AWD that has 63k. I understand the car has many lifetime fluids with normal driving conditions. I’ve done oil changes but certainly none of the dealer recommended stuff which isn’t even in the owners manual. The owners manual says absolutely nothing about brake fluid -silence. With the other lifetime fluids there is at least an indication they should be changed under extreme driving conditions.

Why the silence on changing brake fluid in the owners manual under normal or extreme driving conditions? Anyone have recommendations on brake fluid changes directly from Toyota? I think the old school rule of thumb was to change it every two years.

I have a 2013 4Runner and the maintenance manual does not mention brake fluid even up to the 120K mile point. I flushed mine at 5 years and used D.O.T. 4 synthetic type. I felt 5 years was a long time. The old fluid was slightly discolored, but not much. There was some sediment in the master cylinder reservoir. I did the anti-freeze also for the same reason. It looked good, but I plan to keep it a long time. The Toyota antifreeze is expensive. Cheap insurance or spending money too soon? Probably way too much to have it done by a Toyota dealer, I did my own.

I have a '12 LE V6 with 133k miles on it. Never did a single maintenance schedule for it. Just did oil changes every 10k and changed the plugs at around 130k. Changed the air filter every 30k by myself. Drives just as good as new.
