Picked up a CPO 2015 Sienna LE with 6,300 miles on it abouttwo weeks ago and already put on close to 1,500 trouble free miles. So far so good, this is our first Toyotaafter many years of driving Honda’s (wife) and me Subaru’s. Anyhow there are a couple of tweaks we wouldlike to make and I hope that you all could help us out with the followingitems:
- How do you turn off the seat belt warning alarm forboth the driver and front passenger seat?

- Anyway to disable the chime when using the remoteto lock and unlock the van?

- Anyway to utilize the phonebook etc. on thetouchscreen when the vehicle is in motion? It seems like some of the Bluetooth features are locked when the van isin motion which I understand is a safety issue for the driver but if the passengersphone is the one that is sync’d they should be able to use all of the Bluetoothfeatures.

- Would like to add fog lights to our LE, are allof the models prewired? If not, any recommendationas to a good quality kit other than the OEM kit from the dealer or ebay junk.

I believe I can answer most of your questions:

1. Go to Ebay and purchase an OBD cable for the Sienna. It'll cost around $40 and will come with Techstream software that you'll install on your laptop that would allow you to be able to disable the seat belt and most other chimes you're wanting to. There are so many changes you can make to your vehicle with the Techstream software. Do not take it to the dealer to have this done as they will charge you around $100 to do it or they'll say they can't because of safety concerns.

2. You should be able to use the phonebook when the vehicle is in motion but you'll first need to upload the contacts that are already on the cell phone that you are connecting via bluetooth. Once this is done, you should be able to use the voice function to then tell it to call whomever on your contacts list. It should also allow you to be able to hear audio readings of any text messages that you receive as well. Keep in mind that Toyota has the bluetooth programmed the way it is with driver safety in mind. I'm sure they thought that if the passenger could connect their phone and use all of the bluetooth features, it'll be a matter of time before the driver does the same and end up killing a loving family on their way back from vacation.

3. Being that your LE is considered to be a base model, I doubt that it is already pre-wired for fog lights but to be sure, just go out and look underneath the blank where the fog lights would be and see if you find a plug behind them. If there is no plug, you can purchase the entire fog light kit here http://www.amazon.com/Lights-Replacement-Toyota-Sienna-FL-TY072-AC3/dp/B005ZI1D5I

I would strongly suggest that you take it to a custom audio place to have them installed. They would be $300-400 cheaper than the dealer. Trust me because I just had a remote start installed on my wife's 2015 XLE as a Christmas present. I first took it to the dealer to get a price quote and they told me $780 to install it (way over priced). I then took it to a custom audio installer and he did it for $382 which also included a range extender. As I was waiting the 1 1/2 hours for the install I asked the guy if he installs for a lot of dealerships and he said all the time. I don't know of any dealers nowadays that do any of these installs now. They all have contracts with custom audio and window tint businesses to do these type of installs for them but they'll charge you hundreds of dollars off the top and then take your vehicle to these places.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

That isodd that you need to get software and OBD cable to disable some chimes, in allof our other cars it was just a matter of clicking your seat belt or somethinglike 10 times while holding down a switch. Is this not the case with theSienna? If I have to get the cable doyou know if it is 16 or 22 Pin?
We didload all of the contacts etc. into the radio and they all work when the van isin park, but once you start moving one can only use the last number dialed orvoice commands was hoping that there was some way to bypass this…for instance Iwas able to over-ride this feature in my Subaru along with the Nav lockout.
Regardingthe fogs I figured I would ask, thanks for the suggestion I will take a look. Most likely going to go with aftermarketfogs, perhaps the Morimoto XB Led Fog lights…I used these to replace the OEMones on my Subaru after a stone broke one of them.

Ethan, the remote start doesn't void your warranty. Keep in mind that the dealer is trying to make the $300-$400 profit off of you so they'll tell you anything. Trust me the dealers use the same audio shops to do their installs whether it's the OEM remote start or an aftermarket. The custom audio shop can look your vehicle up to see if it's already wired for the factory remote start and if it is, they can install it within an hour depending on how busy they are.

While I was there, a lady walked in with her newly purchased vehicle that the dealer set an appointment up to have her Ford Fusion remote start installed. Her first question was whether or not it voided the warranty and the reply was no way, he installs them all the time for dealerships.

Try this to see how honest the dealer is. Take your Van to the dealer and tell them you would like to have leather installed. They'll give you a price of around $1,500-$1,800 so then catch a salesman wandering about before you leave and ask them who does their leather installs. They should give you the name of a custom leather business. Go home and call that business and ask for a price quote. You'll see the difference in price.

Picky1, that was only a suggestion to get the OBD cable. I have one for my Tundra and it will fit all Toyota pin connectors. It will save you money. I have already connected mine to our 2015 XLE and changed the unlock feature so that one press of the unlock button will unlock all doors instead of having to press it two times. You can also use it to change the delay entry time for your interior lights and a few other features. I strongly recommend it if you like to tinker.

If you got some time look up Techstream software programming.

Guys all i'm trying to do is save you money while getting the same professional installations. I've been down that same road where you have to go through the dealer for this and that to not void the warranty per the salesman until I asked questions just like you all are now.

kennedyzdad, I am considering installing a Toyota remote start for my wife's '15 XLE. Will the Techstream software allow me to program in the new fobs or will I still have to go to the dealer for that step?

You can do it with the Techstream software but I had the installer program my factory key fobs. Some of the remote start fobs only have three buttons on them so to open your rear lift gate you may have to do a sequence of buttons on it. I like to be able to still use the 6 button OEM fob for this. I also don't like having additional things on my key ring especially key fobs because they are very bulky.

I just looked on Ebay and the OBD cable is going for $18-$25. If you decide to get one, please be sure it has the CD that comes with it. You have to have it to be able to make changes.

Llama look at this link. Eventhough it's for a different model Toyota, it still works. http://blog.obd2express.co.uk/2015/09/17/how-to-program-key-remote-with-toyota-tis-techstream-cable/http://

I didn't intend to take this thread in a different direction than the OP wanted but if it helps you all, that's all that matters.
