The DVD player comes on and the sound works through the van speakers, but there is no picture. Is this something that can be fixed or do we need a whole new unit?

Maybe a Toyota dealer technician can tell you which if any of the components are defective. The overhead video screen, in-dash head unit and Bluray player are all in the loop.

Can you get a picture from SD or HDMI?

Dealership wouldn’t say what was wrong only that we needed a whole new unit. That’s kind of hard to swallow without trying to get a second opinion when the price tag is $700. I’ll have to look into your question and see if we can get a picture.

What exactly would they replace for $700 and would the replacement be new or used? The retail price of a new overhead screen unit is $10,818.98. The retail price of a new disc player is $2,317.26. $700 isn't much compared to prices like that.
