2006 Sienna, broken water pump stud. Now what?
I just sheared one of the water pump mounting studs (the one circled in the picture) Anybody know if that is pressed in from the inside? If so, some way to repair it from the outside? It broke about flush with the front of the water pump, so with the water pump removed there is about 3/4" of stud exposed from engine. Has anybody ever put one together without that nut? I've read about people finding broken nuts when they are doing a replacement that have were not leaking, wondering if the waterpump is stiff enough to stay sealed with only 3 bolts and 2/3 nuts. What do you guys think? How much would it suck to have to put a new stud in if they are pressed in from behind? Are they threaded into the engine from the outside? I'm stuck. thanks
