2022 Canadian model changes

Just got this info from a YVR dealer. I'm not in the industry so I can't verify it. I'm waiting to hear about the Woodands model.

For 2022,
  • LE and XLE FWD are getting roof rails
  • XLE AWD is discontinued and AWD is only offered in LE, XSE, XSE Tech and Limited trims
  • Ottoman seats available for Limited AWD trim.
I was curious if only XSE and up were getting roof rails for 2022 (i.e. same as 2021).

It's also interesting that they are adding Ottoman seats to the AWD limited. Only the limited FWD had that option for 2021 (in Canada, down south they had models with that option).

So weird. I may be in one of the least snowy places in Canada but no way I'm buying a top end model without AWD.

no more fwd limited as well
I was talking to Don Valley Noth Toyota a couple of days ago, and they are still accepting orders for 2021. I specifically asked about 2022 MY and was told no infomation had been recieved from Toyota.

I put 2000 deppsot fpr a XSE+Tech, hopefully i am getting a 2022 MY in 5 months:)
I reached out to all dealers in Calgary region to enquire about 'Sienna 2022 Woodland Edition'. Three of them told me they have no information and two of them came back saying Sienna 2022 Woodland Edition is going to be a USA only trip (like Platinum). But I am going to wait a few month to hear the official word from Toyota before making my choice. If not Woodland then Limited AWD is the next best thing available.

Yeah, the dealer I was talking to said they could put in an order for an XSE for me (2021).

5 months to receive your order?
5 months if I am lucky.
Or a 2022MY in 2022.
Yikes. Well I need a new vehicle before then so I guess I either have to pick through existing 2021 stock or find something different.

I ordered a white xse tech at the beginning of June. I'll let you know what it arrives. I went to a dealer in York Region

Appreciated.

I called them for an update, and none from their end.
Curious to know if there gonna be a price increase..
The roof rails are good news. I was very annoyed that in the states you can add them for $150, but in Canada they aren't available on the LE. I put my name on a waiting list yesterday, I was told I could be able to actually order a van in as little as 8 months ;-) Still bummed that the colour choice is white, grey or black. I've never ordered a new car before, I didn't realize the choices would be so rigid.
Hi all, just came across this thread - I’m in saskatoon and ordered a Gray XSE tech in early June. They tell me it’s arriving middle of September….fingers crossed it shows up on time! I was also told I might have to wait for 2022 MY when Toyota didn’t fill my order for about the first month, but then it came through for a 2021 MY. Good luck everyone, who knew it would be so hard to buy a new vehicle!
We (or rather my wife) recently decided to go ahead and purchase a Sienna and had decided on the white AWD XLE. So now we're really annoyed the AWD XLE is discontinued, as the price hike to the limited is more than we'd like to pay. Probably going to bite the bullet anyway and order the 2022 limited. I've called 6 or 7 GTA area dealerships and told lead times anywhere between 2 to 8 months. So I'm guessing 6 might be able right.

How recent were those lead time quotes? I was quoted around 3-6 months before Toyota annouced they are dropping production by 40% (Toyota is finally being bitten by the chip shortage). No specifics on the Sienna, but it sounds like the only model not hit is the Tundra since they have to get remaining orders off the line so they can start producing the new model. I assume the Rav4 will get higher priority than other models too (that's their bread and butter in north america).
That’s what dealers have been telling me over the past few days, but I seriously think they just say things off the top of their heads. Just like some tell me I can still order 2021 models, and only one was aware that the AWD XLE was being discontinued. So I don’t really trust any of their info.
Would you consider the XSE AWD? Cheaper than the Limited.

I would, but the boss prefers the pearl white over super white, and doesn't like the XSE interior... Decisions, decisions...
Anyone have any update on 2022 availability in the GTA? I called a few dealers that said 3-4 months but it sounds like they are making it up.

I think I've talked to just about every dealership in the GTA (and slightly beyond) at this point. You will find the occasional Sienna coming in that isn't bought up yet which are still 2021 (ex. as of yesterday, Scarborough has an incoming red Limited that isn't sold). But for the most part, you'll be told to order one, and they are only ordering 2022's now, and the wait times have varied from 2-8 months depending on who you talk to. According to at least one dealership (Maple), 2022's are dropping within 2 months. That doesn't mean you'll get one in 2 months, it means those already ordered will get a 2022.

Other interesting tidbits from all the time I've spent chatting with dealers (which may or may not be true):
  • I was told that many dealerships manipulate the wait list to sell to preferred customers first (ex. those buying accessories, extended warrantees, long leases...), which means your ordering first doesn't mean you'll get one first
  • Don Valley North told me that up until last month they were actually catching up and shortening the wait list (meaning they were on track to eventually clear the backlog and have inventory), but the production cuts likely threw that out the window
  • lots of Siennas (especially top trim AWD ones) are being bought up for re-export (to China), so much that Toyota Canada now requires buyer information be submitted to them to be vetted (I believe this one, there was an autotrader ad that was quickly taken down offering high commissions for anyone who can source Siennas, and I've also heard from more than one dealer in the past about China re-exports even before the re-design)
  • within the GTA, there are dealerships who only sell at MSRP, those who add a dealership fee and mandatory extra (like rust proofing), and a few who are willing to order you one with a small discount; obviously seek out the ones who will discount

Ended up ordering an XLE this weekend at MSRP. I was able to negotiate some of the accessories I need though like a hitch. Hopefully we get lucky and don’t need to wait until December/January for delivery.
