I just picked up a 2022 with 6 miles in the Los Angeles area. Paid $1500 over MSRP. Dealer originally wanted $5k over. 2022 XLE 8 passenger in Blue. Came with a few factory options only. No extra dealer installed accessories. I didn’t hear much about financing on this thread. That’s where Toyota financial kicks your butt. I was offered 8.5% for 60 months sign and drive. I took an option contract (7 days to get my own financing from my credit union). Only 1.9% at 60 months but 20% down. I’ll happily down 20% to save 7k in interest!!

fyi I wanted the spare but beggars can’t be choosers. I’ll add it on myself later.
Hmm - im curious. I thought by now - all new Siennas are 2023 models. What is the manufacture date on your unit ? It should be on the door sticker. Congrats btw - i know its hard to get them in CA.

Mine was built in Sept 2022. Looks like there’s more availability now. My broker pal told me there was a white 2023 XLE at Longo available last week for MSRP and Chula Vista had one allocation ready for me and they only add $1300 in accessories.

Third row in the Highlander isn’t meant for daily usage of passengers, so needed less to say, I’m thrilled with the Sienna. Only thing I miss in the Highlander is the power. Everything else I like the Sienna.
Was your Highlander Hybrid too ? If you dont mind - how much did the dealer pay for your car?

When would it be considered appropriate to reach out to the dealer to touch base on your order if you haven’t heard from them since placing it. After 5 months? 7? A year? Or none at all, just whenever you get the call, since it meas they have nothing to advice before that?

I ask because I haven’t heard a peep, which is cool with me, but my rep was like ohh I’ll call you each month or so to keep you updated…which he hasn’t lol

I was thinking of checking in at the 5 month mark and was wondering if I should even bother. Do they at least know things in the pipeline for their dealer and be able to advise?

They should know their allocation for 2023 [at least Canada dealerships]... whether that gets changed due to manufacturing changes is a variable as is to which buyers the dealerships offer first dibs.

Totally appropriate to call. My sales rep said the same to me. Never called. When I called a month later, he was no longer working there.

keep in mind that they get allocations twice a month. So checking in once a month doesn’t seem all that unreasonable, especially if you’re near the front of the line.

Thanks. I’m not in front of the line, but I was told
I’m the only one that placed an order for an XSE and AWD. Everyone else was waiting for LEs or XLEs and FWD since I’m in the south.
I been checking their new car inventory online from time to time and haven’t seen a single XSE AWD hence why I haven’t called but I guess I’ll have to call soon to see what’s up.

I dropped a deposit in May 22. I called 2x in the first 4 months, and each time I had to leave a message and I was lucky if I got a call back. Called 2x more after that and never got a call back. So I've spoken to my lazy ass salesman 2x in 7 months. Like really? You're just sooooo busy you can't return a call for a prospective Platinum buyer? He told me once he never would have any news for me. Really? Maybe you could advise me on a color that might be more available. Or maybe the Limited might be easier. Or where I am in line. You truly had NO helpful news in the last 8 months? Are you really even advocating for me versus the other salesman?

Inventory listing online isn’t always accurate!

Inventory listing online isn’t always accurate!
Yeah, I mean, at this point I’m kind of regretting putting a deposit down. It would’ve been better to just call around and keep checking when something comes up closer to what I want in a dealer within 100-200 mile radius and just buy it.

While online inventories aren’t always accurate, it at least shows that my specific trim and AWD that I want has been available in other dealers around me which I could’ve called to commit. Meanwhile my dealer hasn’t gotten anything. Now if I call one that has the car I want available I have to worry about how to get the 1K deposit from my dealer back if I was to go with someone else. Oh well….thankfully I’m not in dire need of a vehicle at the moment (knock on wood).

Another thing that has me worried is that I just checked the Toyota site, and if you try to build a Sienna on the configuration, it now only allows you to pick FWD for the drivetrain…which is really weird. Does that mean they’re going to stop producing AWD variants for the rest of the 23MY?? As we know they do some funky stuff like that in the current environment they make decisions on the fly due to inventory and so forth. Also you go check their inventory and the amount of AWDs you can count with the fingers on one hand. Specially it lists inventory on “build phase” and like none of those are AWD.
