This mod is done at your own risk.
The recline angle of the 2nd row is not enough to comfotably nap in. I think the main reason is to stop it from going into the third row. The front seats can recline much further than the 2nd row.
There are two hard stop metal pieces you would have to Dremel off. Just take it nice and slow. Do note you would have to take a lot off for any significant angle adjustments. Recline still locks in place.

The only pain is there is a metal cover on the outside making it difficult to get to the hard stop. The inside piece is easy to get to and cut.

Problem with reclining all the way is the seats hitting the rear wheel wells. You could push the seats forward more and recline more. I kept the stops in place to prevent my kids from going beyond and possibly breaking the spring.

Hey quick question! For each seat, are there 2 hard stops? I dremeled on my passenger rear seat, on the left side where the seatbelt buckle is - but my seat was not reclining any further. I am going on a road trip tomorrow and will most likely just move the seats forward entirely, but wanted to have the option to make both seats recline all the way back as well.

If you get it to fully recline enough for good sleeping, please post pics.

Good enough depends on the person. I think the factory angle is about 120 to 130 degrees. With the mod , it goes to about 150 which i think is enough. Could always trim more. Let me know on what type of pictures you want
Can you actually sleep in this, as you would say, in a camper van? Or, would it just be for napping? It would be nice not to have to make a dedicated bed. thanks joe

My kids were able to sleep on it. Think of it as a reclining chair. Also you can't get it flat 180 as the rear wheel wells would probably be in the way. In addition the design of the chair doesn't allow it. I drew a rough sketch showing what i mean. So its up to you to see if you can sleep in that position.

Thanks for the reply. It would be nice to just be able to sleep in the seats. Do people sleep in the front seats, for instance? I imagine not very well for a longer period of time, or people wouldn’t go to the trouble of making beds.
thanks joe

Still remember some of our older family members' minivans from various manufacturers that could have the 3rd row bench almost fully recline; like 170 degrees or so. Very comfy to sleep in and ideal when one driver got tired.

Is that with the seat all the way back that it hits the wheel well? What if the seat is more forward?
