Hi,

So I bought valve stem seals Fel-pro SS72878-3 from O'reilly, for 2004 Sienna. They need to be ordered and you wait for 3+ days.

They came in two plastic bags, 12 in each. There is also a plastic installation tubing in each bag.

There is no words on bags which is intake vs exhaust. O'reilly says they are supposed to be the same.

But they are not. One set can fit the installation tubing. The other cannot, the hole is too small. I tried the old seal (both intake and exhaust) and they fit the tubing. This confirms the unfit one is too small.

Talked to the Fel-pro support, only got rude treatment. One piece of info they gave me is, they are not supposed to be different in size!

The fitting seals have THO on them. The non-fitting seals have numbers on them (not the same number but different numbers).

Has anyone seen this? Care to share your experience?

A side note, all these have to be ordered either online or through auto store. Takes a long time. I ordered another set from O'reilly just to find out this package contains none that fits!

Or, what other after market valve stem seals did you use and were happy?

I haven't seen any posts here besides yours for valve stem seals. If I was going to do this job, i would be only using Toyota parts. Its too risky in my opinion to use something that might not fit.
