Just got a recall notice on my 2011 LE V6 FWD.

Toyota says the brake light switch bracket up between the brake pedal and parking brake pedal can get bent out of shape causing the brake lights to stay on. Apparently people mashing the brake or parking brake sometime bash their feet against this bracket.

For now, Toyota says to inspect the bracket and make sure it's not bent, or bring it to the dealer for inspection.

A new part is due in late February.

I know that there is another thread around here somewhere about this ... can't find it at the moment.

Several people have had this recall done and encountered problems with braking etc.

Can you advise what the status of the repairs are and/or direct me to the other thread. (I'll keep searching for it)

I have refused to allow my dealer to do this inspection/repair until the issues that others have experience have been resolved. Had words with them today because that said it HAD to be done. I refused and we got into a bit of a pissing contest.

Any help would be appreciated.
