It could be the 12V battery fan. It is behind the 3rd row passenger. (Btw, 3rd row passenger panel on right may be worm to touch too. It is one of my top annoyance items for G4.)We have a 22 AWD (XSE)
From the date of pickup, ours has made an intermittent, low-pitched humming sound that seems to come from the rear right while driving. It continued to do it when we installed snow tires, so it's not a tire issue. I drive mostly in ECO mode.
It doesn't seem to be affected by speed or whether I'm accelerating or decelerating; I hear it driving around the city, but also at highway speeds. At first I thought it was maybe the electric motor (from the AWD). It's a very subtle sound. Like someone humming "hmmmmmm" lowly then it stops. Kind of a hollow-ish sound, maybe a bit tinny too. Hard to describe. My passengers barely hear it.
I'm also not sure if this is the same as the "droning" sound that other have mentioned. I recorded a clip of me trying to replicate the sound: Vocaroo | Online voice recorder
I'd appreciate if anyone could comment on whether they hear a similar sound.
I get it all the time while stopped at signals etc. Looks like something turns on and off, and vibrations from it seep thru the gas pedal. It goes away in a few seconds or so.My 2021 Seinna makes weird buzzing sound/motor sound very frequently, when i took it to dealer they say its normal. Other friend who has same car doesn't have any sound. Does anyone having this issue?. How can I a video here?
Thanks
Thanks for clarifying. No ventilated seats in ours. Sound doesn't seem to be tied to the ventilation (it still makes it when I turn off the airflow). It could be the 12V battery fan. Btw, do you happen to have ventilated seats? It makes similar humming noise from the headrests too.
The droning noise that most people speak of is the engine whine that you hear when you get on the gas pedal hard, or when going up hill etc. You won't hear it while driving easy.
12V battery fan whirling is hard to miss. That fan is often on for few minutes at a time, even during winter and even if you are getting into van first time that day. Btw, sometimes the panel gets worm to medium hot. I believe rear AC components are in that area. Thanks for clarifying. No ventilated seats in ours. Does the panel get warm on account of the battery fan/draw? I couldn't imagine it generating that much heat. Or is there another cause?
Location seems right for potentially being the 12v battery fan but behaviour doesn't. I only seem to hear it while driving, not while stopped. Do you know if the fan runs continuously? Thanks!
Heat from climate control system outputs through a vent right in that same location, pushes warm air against the seat and surrounding areasDoes the panel get warm on account of the battery fan/draw? I couldn't imagine it generating that much heat. Or is there another cause?
Btw, in your audio clip, I hear a fan buzzing and also a couple of 'ummmm'. I don't think I hear 'ummm' in ours, just the 12v battery fan. Thanks for clarifying. No ventilated seats in ours. Sound doesn't seem to be tied to the ventilation (it still makes it when I turn off the airflow).
