I’m running IPhone 13 OS 15.6.1 I have not had the issue running google maps but I only run 2d not 3d maps. IOS 16 is still in beta. 15.7 is the latest. As of October 8th 2022. Changing the cable is easy test. Set the map to 2d is another. The Car play looks ok it’s the map resolution that seems to be the issue.

 

Have IOS 16.0.2 as latest I believe.

I just updated to 15.7 it’s offering 16.0.2 but Google maps doesn’t have an update. I usually wait for 4 to 6 weeks after an upgrade to let the bugs work out and the App makers to upgrade. Being an early adapter can mean you discover the problems first.

 

I am running 16.0.2… guess I’ll have to wait for a bug fix. Thanks folks!

 

I have not seen an issue with IOS 16 but I have been using Waze.

 

have you tried restarting your Iphone? or have you tried another iphone?
Remember that Apple Carplay and Android auto are just a mirror of your phone. Your phone handles mostly everything. The head unit is just a tunnel. Maybe the lightning port is dirty?

 

I had a strange issue with an iPhone 12 running iOS 16 today - see attached image. Using the physical buttons to go back from CarPlay into the Sienna infotainment interface immediately cleared it, so it’s not a hardware issue with the screen. But if I then go back into CarPlay it happens again. Anyone encountered this? Is it an iOS 16 issue? Cable issue?

Also, take a screen shot (volume up +lock button) with carplay hooked up. When carplay is connected youll get a screen shot from your iphone and from carplay screen.... look at the screenshot and see what your iphone sees....
But I really think that an Iphone restart (hold volume down plus lock button then slide to power off) will remedy this

 

Is it only on Google Maps? What happens if you switch Carplay to spotify or messages? If it's only Google Maps you could try Apple Maps. I was really hesitant to use Apple Maps at first, tried it once, liked it, and now use it for like 95% of my GPS navigation.
