Cruise control problem 1999 xle

So I'm having cruise control issues. Here is the info


turn on cruise = indicator as normal
set speed = indicator as normal
release gas = decrease speed followed by blinking light
OBDII reveals no codes
recently had transmission rebuilt.
Any help greatly appreciated.
