Dreaming about potential powertrains (HybridMAX/Direct4)

Hello viewers,

I have been thinking about how the Sienna could possibly get HybridMAX/Direct4 due to sharing the same platform as the new Lexus RX and the Toyota Crown crossover type. I think could be a good powertrain for extra towing (5,000 lbs?) or hauling a** fully loaded on a road trip. HybridMAX would sacrifice 10MPG less than 2.5 hybrid (36 MPG to 26 MPG), like the crown with the 2.5 hybrid gets 38 MPG and with the HybridMAX powertrain, it loses 10 MPG to 28 MPG. I send a recommendation to Toyota Corporate about this, and I want to hear your thoughts on this.

The HybridMAX/Direct4 powertrain consists of:
  • 2.4L Turbo 4 Cylinder
    • (265 HP/307 lb/ft on regular or 275 HP/317 lb/ft on premium)
  • bipolar NiMH battery
    • (approx. 2kwh?)
  • 6 speed automatic with pancake electric motor
  • 107hp rear motor from bZ4X
  • 340hp on regular (Toyota Crown), 366hp on premium (Lexus RX500h). Torque unspecified.
my "dream" HybridMAX/Direct4 powertrain (not PHEV)
  • 2.4 Turbo 4 Cylinder.
    • can "flex" between regular and premium for different hp/tq ratings
  • lithium ion battery?
  • 8 speed with pancake electric motor
    • potential packaging issues
  • 201hp rear motor from the bz4x
    • 201hp motor is the front motor on the FWD version of the bZ4X
  • Maybe 380hp on regular, 400hp on premium?
    • don't count me on that.
I think this is impossible (PHEV). I'll call it HybridULTRA
  • 2.4 Turbo 4 cylinder
    • "flex" between regular and premium for different hp/tq ratings
  • "Prime" Sized lithium ion battery
    • 15-20kwh?
  • 8 speed with pancake motor
    • again, packaging issues in the engine bay
    • bigger battery = bigger power from electric motor (Prime PHEV)
  • 201hp motor from bZ4X
    • FWD Spec bZ4x
    • bigger battery = bigger power from electric motor (Prime PHEV)
  • easily 400+ HP with ICE + EV in unison

So, in conclusion, I have been dreaming too much and I think that only the first option would be viable from a packaging standpoint, and possibly the second one if the Toyota engineers are crazy. "HybridULTRA" is probably impossible. Oh well. Anyway, I want to hear your thoughts and hope some Toyota employees can see this.
