Very strange indeed. Looks like every one year, the driver's side daylight bulb burns out. What could be the reason for this unique situation?

Like sixto said about the connector. Have a look to see if it is burnt.
I am sure you know not to touch the bulb area with your fingers as the oil 'can' burn out the bulb premature.

I just disabled my DRLs (pulled the jumper) and ran a different set of LED lights off of that circuit. The high beams still get voltage because the jumper is on the ground side, so running DRLs off the high beams but without using the high beam bulbs still works.

I always avoid touching the bulb.
