@andreas970 You're not wrong, but I was just replying to the thread in general, giving my 2 cents. I don't have the AWD variant, and I'm not familiar enough with Sienna's to give any input on these type of things.
Oh, for sure! I didn't mean to imply you were in any way being nefarious. Fuelly stats just tend to rile me up for the reasons I mentioned. I can't speak for everyone, but I definitely appreciate your input!

My base model 2006 FWD has 216,000 miles and still runs like a Swiss watch. We took a trip last month from Portland to Phoenix which gave me a chance to check the highway mileage. It's still the same as when the vehicle was new. Here is my fuel mileage:

City/suburban driving: 19 winter, 22 summer
Highway only: 24-27 mpg (27 happens at higher altitude, not at sea level)

Oil consumption is essentially zero. I use Mobil 1 and change every 10k.

I wanted to start a gas mileage thread like the siennaclub had.

State your engine, Fwd or Awd , City/Highway/Combined mileage and your range on a tank.

Just curious what you other Sienna owners are getting :)

for me:

3.5L
Fwd
18 mpg all city driving
27 mpg all highway
21 mpg combined ( 60% city 40 % highway)

We get about 350 miles to a tank usually but got as much as 450 miles on a recent trip. We were using the A/C on the trip most of the time with cruise set at 70 mph.
you must all be driving like old grandmas, I get around 16 combined from computer

We get disastrous mileage because most of the use is hyper-local driving and sitting in car lines at school. Right now the display says 15.8. But on a highway trip I can get 23~26 depending on speed. I don't really want to spend that much time below 70 so it's closer to the 23 end of that range.

Edit: oops, didn't realize this was Gen2. I'm Gen 3.

09 FWD here with 140,000 miles. I normally get 23-25mpg. We live in a rural area so most of our driving is "highway." When we have a chance to do city-type driving or letting the van warm up, the lowest I see is 18 or 19mpg.

Last week we towed a 5'x10' (interior) cargo trailer with a couch. Mileage was 14-16mpg. This was going around 75mph most of the time, sometimes dropping to 70 or 65 going up hills.

I use Supertech 5W-30 high mileage full synthetic and change every 5k.

Suburban about 18 MPG. Gently rolling highway is 28 to 32 mpg, with cruise control, no more than 65 mph. If spouse drives, she accellerates and decellerates quickly, the suburban is 12 to 14 mpg.
It is not cost effective to get a new electric car. I can get thousands of gallons of gas for the price difference.

I'm in the middle of a road trip with 800+ miles so far. At an average of 63mph ( 1850 rpms+-) the mpgs so far is averaging 28.5 mpgs . My 06 LE just turned over 200k miles. In the past doing 68-70 mph the fuel burns drops to about 25-26 mpgs.

Got done with a 2600 mile road trip. I really took it easy this time , seldom going over 70mph. In fact most times on the highways I'm doing 63mph resulting in a 27-28mpg. I estimated a fuel savings of about 80 bucks or so compared to driving at 70 mph and higher.

Your $80 figure made me do a double take. I ran some numbers assuming $3.50/gal, and $80 would be 22mpg instead of 27.5mpg. I usually go 70-75mph on trips, and I'm seeing 24-25mpg on most of my gas logs. I have higher entries such as 27-28 when I went slower like you mentioned. So at $3.50/gal for me I would see around $15 difference per 1000mi travelled. So $45 over a 3000mi trip. It's nice to have numbers in mind for balancing priorities. At $2.50/gal, it would be $11 per 1000mi.

So I have 136000 miles on my 2008 and I get a dismal 12.6 mpg combined city /highway. have not had it a month yet, nor have I taken it out for a long highway cruise. Just wondering if I need to change the O2 sensors to improve mileage? My 98 suzuki sidekick sport has a paltry 280000 miles on it and gets 30 around town and driving the Sienna sure makes a difference to the wallet with gas averaging 9.20 per imperial gallon . I drive at 55-60 mph on the highway . Yup just cleaned the air sensor as well, so I am looking for any other reason I am getting this low gas mileage? Hmmmn have to figure out how to get my profile up there as well.

With 246K miles on an '07 FWD Limited, I averaged 18mpg combined city/hwy. I have averaged worse during times when I had a bad alternator, bad COP coil, and a stuck caliper (about 2-3mpg less.)

I would recommend you change the spark plugs if you haven't already. They definitely impact mpg.

Type of tires and inflation pressure make a difference. Winter tires net almost 2mpg less. All-weather (not all season) tires -- the so-called 3-peak mountain snowflake tires like Michelin Cross-Climate or Goodyear Assurance Weatherready -- reduced my mileage by 1mpg compared to standard all-seasons. Under-inflated tires could net 1mpg less, although I tend to check my tires often enough that this isn't an issue.

Winter months/cold weather will obciously result in less mpg.

I used to fill exclusively at Shell until they must have had water in the UST because van ran like crap. I switched to a local supermarket gas station and never looked back. Anytime I fill need to Shell (e.g. out of town or out of gas), I notice a decline in mileage. So what gas you get does matter somewhat.

Ahhhh I assumed all XLE were awd but I will plug that into the profile as well. Aside from the V6 and it's 3 spark plugs in a precarious position to work on I am impressed with the lay out of the front end as my Sidekick is more of a wedged in engine and components to work on are behind stuff. I realize the gas mileage will be a bit lower with awd but this is more than a bit lower

'08 LE, FWD, 227K miles, all stock with no modifications. It'll get 33 mpg cruising at 55 mph. During the gas price debacle of last summer, I did a lot of 55 mph highway driving, and it averaged 28.7 mpg (summer gas) according to the onboard trip computer. When I'm driving normally and not giving a rip about gas mileage, I get 25.4 mpg average (summer and winter gas). Lately I've been pretty bad with being on time getting out of the house and it's been winter gas, so I'm at 26.3. (I've been taking it easy on the way home - 60-62 mph max on the highway. Anyone who doesn't like it can buy me gas, and then I'll speed up.)

I have not been driving much , but after the temp sensor and thermostat were replaced ,the MAF cleaned , and the Toy has moved from 12.1 to 17.2 mpg around town. Now it has a leak of rad fluid that needs to be fixed and I am thinking of getting the ( works fine right now ) water pump replaced and the front rotors / pads as I get he wobbles at high speed slow downs. Got the CD player fixed not replaced and I am looking forward to listening to talking books the next road trip I do . I will then have some idea of what gas mileage on the highway will be.

just an update , the sienna is now getting 18.2 mpg around town and two days after I got the rad flushed the water pump began to leak. Paid 150 bucks to Lubrico warranty and that paid for the water pump 289.00 and the 4 hours of labor at 110.00/ hour. so pleased that i have the Sienna in better shape . I also got the front brakes replaced so no more wobble feeling at high speed braking on warped rotors. Waiting for a road trip to see what mileage I get at or below the speed limit.
