Doesn't matter, the Sienna filter is cheap, and with online discounts, getting it from the dealer is a nobrainer.
Don't have a dealer close by, get it shipped free, min $75
Reason I ask is because I get my oil there.
Even if the filter is more money at Wally world, it would be less hassle than stopping off at my local dealer (always a pain finding parking and the nitwits they have working there won't sell you a bottle of washer fluid without a dang VIN number)

I go to Maplewood Toyota here in the Twin Cities for oem parts. Buy four filters get one free has been going on for the last 17 years. Once in a blue moon they have the Sightline wiper blades half off so I stock up when that is going on. Fantastic wiper blades , but Expensive at full price. Peace. D

I have a Toyota oil filter that I bought at my local Walmart, new in the box. I examined it closely after watching the video by the Car Care Nut. I believe my filter is genuine:
  • The box has the shiny round reflective sticker on top with the text that shifts as you move the box.
  • The drain tool and O-rings are identical in feel and appearance to earlier Toyota filters I bought from a Toyota dealer through Amazon.
  • The filter element is rigid when I squeeze it side-to-side or end-to-end.
  • The instructions on the box are identical to the earlier Toyota filters. Print quality on the box is excellent, just like other genuine Toyota filter boxes.
  • The Care Care Nut says (at 5:30 in the video above) that some Walmart stores have Toyota filters. I don't think he was implying that the filters carried by Walmart are counterfeit.

the walmart price is higher than the price I pay per filter at the dealer. I pay $4.50 per yzzn1 filter at the dealer, and walmart is charging almost double for that. just get them at a dealer, real or not.

WM is not going to risk litigation

the filters from WM are all "real"

where you need to be careful is ebay or amazon. THOSE parts may be fake, therefore it is best to order from a "dealer" listing on ebay
WM has been caught selling counterfeit items, even in-store. It's a hazard of a mega big-box store that orders 95% of their merchandise from China.

Walmart in my area been selling thses for a while.
Well like most auto parts- there’s really only 2-3 manufacturers of oil filters and they just change labels and specs s little bit and Cha Ching the dealer can charge you double if not triple of what Walmart sells them for. So now the dealers have to be more realistic in their prices.

But are they real?

Very good video! Since 39k when I bought it, my now 154k engine has always 'ticked' when cold then goes away once warmed. Always used Purolator filters when buying a packaged oil deal from Pep Boys. Am using Costco 5/30w synthetic, as they are both a price leader in synthetic and conventional oil. Good stuff, is rated for turbos. Have seen Toyota filters on ebay from different sources. Maybe in 2019 when this video was made, only dealerships had the market, but they are either selling on ebay or are fromsome other sources. Hopefully they are not counterfeit since they are shown in Toy packaging.

I've dealt with counterfeit electronic components. Even NASA and the US Military has been stung by supply chain components that weren't real from the indicated source. So unfortunately, nothing surprises me today. Even if you buy it from a Toyota dealer.

Just noticed in the Walmart pic that the listed price is more than what you would pay at the dealer without a discount. The state of some boxes (open/torn) is also concerning as the filter could have been tampered/switched.

$4 a filter online from a toyota dealer with free shipping over $75... no brainer. Just bought 8 oil filters, air and cabin filters for just over the free shipping minimum.

No affiliation, but this dealer has competitive prices and ships quickly. Got my Japanese lug nuts from them, and a bunch of odds and ends/filters, etc.

My local dealer sells online with competitive prices, but has local pickup option to avoid minimums and shipping. I use this to purchase small items like AC o-rings, nuts/bolts, and trim fasteners that are low cost items and have toyota part numbers to match orginal. I recently bought a canister oil filter cheaper than purolator at big box.
Years ago, I was told they can sell oil at inhouse service dept bulk cost, if you bring container.
