Buying a Sienna for the kid hauling, but all of my kids are teens (adult height).
Does anyone know- are the second generation and third generation third row seats the same height?
And do the second generation head rests come up high enough for an adult?
Thanks!

The 3rd row seats in the 3rd gen have less headroom. I don’t fit but I’m 6’5”, and don’t fit the front seats of some cars. I think the average adult would have plenty of headroom though, seemed that way when I took coworkers to lunch.

Note you can only fit two adults comfortably in the 3rd row, it’s too narrow to fit 3 adults across, even though there are three seatbelts. Three kids would fit fine.

Also I should add for the 3rd gen, if you get an 8-passenger model, the middle seat is removable on the 2nd row. When removed, there is a ~4" high cupholder that is NOT removable. Some people are very annoyed by this, as it makes getting into the back harder going between the seats. However, I don't find it an issue myself, as the seats easily slide/fold forward for 3rd row access behind the second row seats, instead of climbing between them.

The 8th seat is fairly narrow, and an adult may find it a bit uncomfortable for a long drive, but for shorter ones it should be fine. It's basically just flat (and narrow), while the two other seats are bucket seats. There will also be slightly reduced headroom on this seat as it's a couple inches higher than the recessed bucket seats on each side.

I'm happy to get pictures or measurements from my 2014 8-passenger van if you'd like.

On the 2nd gen, you'll get the most 2nd row headroom on an CE or LE trim since they lack the headroom-robbing moonroof present on XLE and Limited trims.

On 3rd gen, you'll get the most 2nd and 3rd row headroom on non-Limited/Limited Premium trims. Limited/Limited Premium have the 2nd moonroof that significantly eat into headroom.

4th gen have even less 1st/2nd/3rd row headroom than 2nd and 3rd gen.

I have the XLE w/the 8th seat.

I concur with how narrow the 8th seat is! It's like they purposely built it to torture interns on long hauls. But is really useful when you need it.

When you don't need it you just pull a couple releases and it folds up to be stored in it's very own storage hold to the rear left of 3rd Row seats.
