Been waiting for this announcement the for 2 years! Had first dibs to the 1st batch of sequoia but the 3rd row was disappointing vs previous generation. Got lucky on a 25th edition couple weeks ago.

What do you guys think? Much bigger or more luxury? The Lexus equivalent will be the Lexus TX i believe.

I think Toyota missed the opportunity to really compete in the 3 row segment when they redesigned the Highlander. This should have been the Highlander with max space and cargo capacity from the get go. I'd probably opted for it instead of the Sienna. Curious to see how they'll package it.

Yeap they did. Highlander sales dipped this year. Kia palisade has record sales and the 3rd row is like a cave compared to the highlander(not that I will buy a kia)

Highlander sales were definitely supply constrained, so I wouldn't read too much into it. Same with the Kia for that matter. All the sales numbers are pure reflection of who could produce the most cars. Maybe in 2023 we'll start to see numbers again that reflect consumer demand.

most certainly supply constrained. if they have the same features or better than the current highlander platinum, then we will be trading in our hihy plat for a grand highlander. it must have the rear view mirror cam tho, that is certainly a must have feature, along with the 1500w inverter, because that plug is a lot more useful than you ever though it could be.

2.4 inline 4 making 340 horse?
Put those electric motors in the Sienna and we will have the ultimate Van.
The best of both worlds.
I am not familiar with the 340 hp "Hybrid Max" powertrain, but from what I have read it doesn't have a remarkable fuel economy.

To get a roomier, and therefore more competitive in the segment Highlander, all Toyota had to do was to shrink the nose by 6" and stretch the rest of the car by the same 6". Same footprint, presumably no extra weight penalty = no need for a more powerful engine in the hybrid version.

Even better, give the Sienna a stronger rear suspension, possibly with a 1.5" lift.

Never mind, Toyota these days is very much into enormouse noses, so we'll just have to wait for the "grand nasal fashion" to fizzle out.

Yeah, the rav4 got a bigger nose when they changed styling. Same for Sienna.

Seems to be a trend thing as drove by a 2023 CRV last week and the nose looked long like Rav4 or Tiguan.

I think that the Gen 4 Sienna's nose appears longer because the lower edge of the windshield was kind of pushed backwards, so the cabin floor space wasn't encroached upon. Toyota found a different, but an equally ingenious way of limiting the utility of the cargo area:).
