Hi all,
To all with the OEM dash cam, does it have any glitches such as stop recording, not clear image or too small memory??
I’m looking to install it on my LE but not sure if it’s worth more than the traditional dash cam..
Thanks.

If you live in areas with temperature extremes it might be good idea as OEM accessories are supposed to be better. If the OEM accessory is installed at purchased, it's typically covered by the 3yr bumper to bumper warranty. Check with the dealer to be sure.

But if it were me, I'd look at front/rear camera packages instead.

I currently have dash cam with USB plug in. I’m thinking about hardwire it. It’s cheap but it works..
The OEM is approximately $300 but looks cleaner.
Still debating if it’s worth it.
Thanks guys.

The OEM dash cam has worked for me. You probably want to upgrade the SD from the 16GB that it comes with to 128GB(maximum permitted). It has parking mode that operates until it detects the battery voltage is low. The voltage it is set to is something like 12.2 volts, so the battery does not run down to a point where the car will not start. This usually makes parking mode work for a couple of days.

Any idea if the OE dashcam can easily be added to an LE ? In other words, does the LE have a power cable there that can easily be tapped into ?

I believe that all Siennas have the power cable to support the dash cam. The power cable is hidden by the overhead control panel with the interior lights and sliding door switches.

I concur,

I can vouch for the brand/ style. I have the same make in my corrola hatchback. Clean oem look and great quality. 8 months zero issues. I just purchased the same brand for my future sienna which we are still waiting for.

I transplanted my Viofo A129 Pro Duo from my previous vehicle and hard-wired it to the fuse box. Fairly clean setup. I considered that Fitcamx cam/style but I run a blend mount off the rearview mirror for my radar detector (for awareness) and that would likely interfere with detection. Pretty happy with the setup so far. Shelling out $250-$300 for a new camera didn't make much sense to me. Maybe if I needed a new setup. Make sure you purchase a name brand high endurance SD card either way.

The A129 Pro Duo is a great dashcam, running it in my current car and will move it to the Sienna whenever I get it. I also considered getting OEM or Fitcamx for the built-in look, but the Viofo is better performance for the money. I use mine with a Cellink Neo for parking mode.

I have the factory dash camera. It works well for us, and has proved useful for providing video to the police of an accident on the freeway in front of us. Recently we were running errands and cam out to get in the car and when I powered it up, there was a loud alarm sound we couldn't place. We checked the dash warning lights, etc and even called our dealer. First guy we got had no clue and told us to bring it in. Frustrated I looked around one more time and noticed the dash cam lights flashing in sequence. I turned it off and the noise stopped. I called the dealer back and got hold of a different guy and he told me they had recently had a customer come in with the same thing and it was the memory card was full and the cam was beeping to alert them. I asked how do you fix it, and he told me to buy another card. I pulled ours out and downloaded it to my PC and erased all the files. Re-installed it and problem was solved.

it's an ok dash cam- my van came with it. I ruined it when i broke the memory chip off in the unit and could not remove it. So I removed it and bought a Fitcamx. it was simple to install and has a excellent user interface, it does everything the factory dash cam can do and mounts under the rearview mirror out of your line of sight.

So if your van cam with the factory dash cam I'd keep it but if you currently do not have a dash cam I highly recommend the Fitcamx.
