Hello,

I brought my struts to a machine shop to compress the springs, reuse the springs and replace the struts and uppers.

I provided them a diagram from Toyota on the strut and the procedure from tsienna, Toyota Sienna Service Manual: Reassembly - Front shock absorber with coil spring - Suspension.

Font Drawing Auto part Circle Parallel

Both Toyota's diagram and tsienna shows the upper, item 12 , ( triangle shape ) flat side points out.

ugh! I believe mine, the point of the triangle points out!

How can I be for sure? Is item 12 marked on what the "out" is? Or can I pick any point of item 12 to point out?

Like I answered in your exactly same other thread. It the strut top fits in all three ways then the direction doesn't matter. If the holes are drilled so it only fits one way, that's the way you install it.

On the Gen2, they are directional (they're not parallel with the top of the spring). There should be an arrow on the strut mount showing the outboard side. I looked at Gen3 strut mount pictures, and didn't see anything, so maybe the strut mount is flat across the top?
